Big Brother Alive and Well: AP "Exclusive" on Chimperor Bike King
Notice the spin? This article on Chimp's latest bike adventure sums up the captive press. It's like Stalin all over again. The Little Turd from Crawford needs Corporate McPravda to maintain his image of superman. Only thing is, no matter how much they try, the presstitutes can't make a leader out of a turd.

AP Exclusive: Bush the mountain-biker rides hard, shrugs off crash

SCOTT LINDLAW, Associated Press Writer Monday, July 26, 2004

(07-26) 15:52 PDT CRAWFORD, Texas (AP) --

President Bush charged up punishing climbs and down steep dirt paths on his high-performance bike Monday, at one point landing flat on his back.

The president dusted himself off from his fall on a treacherous descent, waved his medics away and kept rolling, a small cut on his knee and dirt on his back the only signs he had wrecked. He allowed that he was a bit shaken up.

Bush's new hobby is a way to get his heart rate up and spend time outdoors without aggravating his achy knees. With an Associated Press reporter riding with him, Bush pedaled to remote corners of his 1,600-acre ranch.

Bush has been riding the knobby-tired bikes since February, and he rides with abandon.

23. If the press fulfilled its Constitutional obligation, it would.
The only business mentioned by name in the Constitution is the Press, and the First Amendment spells out how Congress shall make no law prohibiting freedom of speech and of the Press. Why? Only with an informed electorate can Democracy survive. Then, again, you knew that DAGDA56!

6. Maybe he should take up swimming
Aside from the obvious, mountain biking isn't exactly easy on the knees-

This quote is particulaly laughable: "He takes on dangerous sections that would give veterans pause. He keeps a cramp-inducing pace on long uphill sections, panting hard by the time he reaches each peak, backing off a little to recover and then attacking the next hill."

Shamelss propaganda- I'm surprised that the Chron would even publish such BS. After all, the hills around the Bay Area gave birth to the sport- And I guarantee that any "veteran" mountain biker would laugh at the Bush's ride.

46. Yeh. I got family in Fremont and around there...
... California is hilly and beautiful and it would be a challenge. Those who enjoy riding would be considered "working" by the likes of Bush, a man who's never worked a day in his life.

The reason the paper published the article is that it's an Associated Press story, "Hot off the wire." The Big Lie is obvious to those trained to look out for it. For the great majority it is not so easy, and they become easy prey.

Here are the words of Karen Hughes' role model:

12. The spin that says the guy is an adventurous, hearty fellow.
The spin that implies that he fell because he was trying a "treacherous descent."

The spin that says he "waved off his medics" after ending up on his back.

The spin that implies heroicism by peddling to "remote corners" of his 1,600-acre rance a Texas in July.

The spin that shows a man concerned about the "mind-clearing" benefits of exercise.

The spin that ignores the connections to his other episodes of falling, from biking to pretzling.

There are more examples. Those are all I can stomach to re-spin for now.

19. Medics always come when a president cracks a fingernail...
They are absolutely going to freak out and come flying when a president falls off a bike. And you have no idea how serious the incline was. Maybe it was weenie. But maybe not. I know where I take my mountain bike it can get pretty hairy.

It's a pretty weak stretch to act like the sentance that talks about Bush wanting to get his heart going by riding is trying to imply any kind of "heroism."

I don't see how there is "spining" of the facts to not mention that the president choked on a pretzel. I do see the stupidity of acting like choking on a pretzel (I woke up last night and realized I was choking on my own heartburn! Pretty gross, but no indication of anything to do with me or who I am) is something that matters.

48. Bush can’t use a Segway. How’s he gonna ride a bike?
I'm not arguing the facts of the case. I'm arguing the shaping of the content, what millions of people will read -- a prime feature article of the Associated Press.

Even without a team of coders working the midnight Content Analysis with me, it seems clear to me that the article is slanted pro-Bush. Don’t you find it odd, Selwynn, how the AP got an “exclusive” that plays up the commander-in-thief as a stout-fellow-well-met, though prone than most to the even odder accident just hours after the guy suffered a wipe out?

Oh yeah. Maybe it’s all the coverage “Big Wave” surfing has gotten of late. Nightline and 60 minutes discovered surfing, of all things, this week.

Not trying to tell you what to think. That's what someone else is doing.

The crazy monkey's got a slow heart. I'm sorry, but, we all gotta play the hand we're dealt. Just think of the tens of millions of people living broken lives in America's deteriorating inner cities. Most are of very limited means, as well as possess a very limited education. Yet almost all know enough not to get in a state where they can't walk without falling down and hitting their head.

Remember the William Holden "Drinking Helmet?" The great actor fell and broke his skull on the corner of a table. Unlike Smirko, no one was around to help him.

Maybe Pickles got him one of these

I've been to Killeen (which, I hear, isn't that far from Crawford), and while it ain't flat as a pancake, they must have built a bike path for him to get anything too grueling. It's no hillier than where I learned to ride a bike when I was a kid, in southern Ohio. I ride trails, and I've seen aerial photos of shrub's pig farm, and there isn't anything even remotely close to a "steep dirt path". Maybe I'm spoiled out here in Cali where we actually have mountains. I would consider a steep incline at about 600' +/- per mile. And he landed "flat on his back"?! How in the hell does one land flat on their back after crashing on a descent??! What a maroon.

U.S. vice-president's wife stops reissue of sexy novel she wrote in 1981

NEW YORK (AP) - A publisher has cancelled plans to reissue a racy novel by Lynne Cheney, wife of U.S. Vice-President Dick Cheney, after she said the book did not represent "her best work."

New American Library, an imprint of Penguin Group (U.S.A.), was going to reprint Sisters, an historical romance published in 1981 that includes brothels, attempted rapes and a lesbian love affair.

"We felt interest was growing because it was an election year and we decided it could be a timely book," Liz Perl, executive director of publicity at New American Library, said Friday.

But Cheney's lawyer, Robert Barnett, said she did not even know about the reissue plans until receiving calls last week from the news media. Barnett then contacted the publisher, which agreed this week to pull the novel.

D`?=ss up with the plan. Then little sub-turds, like David Frum, actually turn the phrases, using the alchemy perfected by Herr Doktor Josef Goebels.

Then, Bush reads his lines or listens to his earphone.

As to why the Little Turd from Crawford is prone to fall of the bike,
perhaps the expression should name "wagon."

C-SPAN is running some presidential convention acceptance speeches. I heard Harry S Truman at the 1948 DNC mention national healthcare. He blamed the do-nothing 80th Congress for derailing the Democratic plan. Can't say that any of the Congresses since then have done much -- beside creating Medicare and Medicaid during the Great Society. Largely since then, money has trumped people.

Look! It's a tax cut!

39. "He keeps a cramp-inducing pace on long uphill sections, panting hard..."
"...emitting low "hrrr, hrrr, hrrr" grunts with each stroke of the pedals, his shoulders bobbing up and down..."

Well, now we know what a sweaty night with * in the sack is like. No wonder Pickles' face permanently looks like The Joker.

"Crash" moron would then go crying to Poppy to steal him a new one.

52. The article reads like one long alibi
He fell off his bike, and there are loads of witnesses to prove it, as is mentioned at every posible oppotunity in the article.

62. Mountain Biking New Pastime for Bush
Edited on Tue Jul-27-04 09:24 AM by seemslikeadream

A reflector snapped off the bike and was left as a warning marker for next time. Bush straightened the handlebars, threw a leg over the bike and kept rolling.

"We've got thrills, spills - you name it," he said.

53. Landing On His Back???

Are you telling me that the good doctor knew that his knees are bad, there are a few weeks until the convention and he lands on his BACK?

What the hell does the good doctor do? Let's Georgie dust off and keep on going?! What doctor would let that happen?

It would seem that at the speed he was allowing us to believe he was going, his back could be in big trouble. His legs too.

No mention of x-rays for the President of the United States?

Please spare me from the Chimp's physician!

It's all lies folks, big big lies and big cover up.
The boy king is mental or drunk.

Again, where are the photos? If they are trying to prove that he is Lance Armstrong, we want to see him ride! If they can fake a turkey and hay on the ranch, let's see the fake ride.
