In 34 months we watched as all the good will of the world was squandered by a virtually unbroken series of mistakes and miscalculations.

quoted from memory - not 100% accurate, but that was the jist.

He said what needed to be said with ZERO vitriol, in the most civil manner possible, yet with complete honesty and conviction.

That was an beautiful speech.

Loved Gore but Carter hit it head on. "We cannot lead if our leaders mislead." A great foreign policy indictment of W and the regime.

17. Jimmy Carter. I worked his gov campaign in Vietnam.
Got out the absentee vote among my fellow Georgians in 1970. I voted a straight Democratic absentee ballot from Cam Rahn Bay, Vietnam.

Georgia Governor and President Jimmy Carter
A quiet, smart man.

and sadly have to watch on PBS with Shields and Brooks.
Brooks pointed out it was bashing, and "BushI would have never done the same...Carter has entered back into partisan politics"

Shields had already mentioned he never mentioned Bush by name.

heheh...dipshit.

otherwise, they are giving a good synopsis of Carter's fine words.
Carter being interviewed by Lehrer (?) now.

dp

edit: Carter is continuing with his point with the interview: He just said he didn't know if *moron was the leader 'in his group/inner circle', maybe it's Cheney.
US is now a target of Amnesty International, not a supporter of it (paraphrased) due to the erosion of civil rights here in US.

more..great interview.

33. I switched to FOX mid speech
to check it out. They were not showing the speech. Instead they had Hannity pontificating, with his headset half off his ears, so the flow of garbage coming out of his mouth would not be disturbed by what was actually happening.

39. Carter all but called the Chimp AWOL!!
OMFG! Who would have believed that Jimmy Carter would be the man to fire the first shot across the bow at the Chimp????

I literally almost fell off of my chair when he started talking about the Chimp's lack of service to his country!

That was by far the best speech I have heard in a very long time!

I was in tears by the end. That man loves this country so much and you could tell that he is deeply troubled at what this country has become.

I have never been more proud of Jimmy Carter than I am tonight!

Oh and before I go this message to Joe "Killer" Scarbrough: GO FUCK YOURSELF!
