I saw this photo on her site after looking into the USA Today flap. I am very confused about this. If I don't get a good answer from my fellow DUer's, I'm going to have to dig out the bong...

The only photo related to music is the one with this poster. Now, a possible explaination - it is only the music. I believe the Dead played at her Alma Mater - Cornell at least twice while she was there and a bunch of times in the neighborhood - Binghampton, Syracuse, Rochester, Albany, etc. Maybe she like the band?

Next horror, do you think Rush did Oxycontin and then listed to Begonias on "11" and blew out his eardrums?

Although it makes about as much sense as Woody Allen being a Skrewdriver fan, I wouldn't use this information to impugn that the CoulterCreature is actually human.


She ought to be ashamed. She stands for everything Hunter, Garcia, Lesh, et al. stood for. (Barlow/Weir....I'm not so sure. There's a famous "Blues for Allah" rehearsal tape where, between songs, Weir calls himself a "registered republican." And Barlow had some serious conservative leanings, supposedly.) If she really loved the benevolent energy and unforced goodwill that the Dead embodied, she wouldn't be such an evil hosebag.

There's also been some rogue theorizing that Coulter is actually a liberal in disguise, making the right look like the evil clowns they are. Could be; it's certainly no weirder than her being a Deadhead.

That doesn't sound to me like a ringing endorsement of Bush.

As for Barlow, the Electronic Freedom Foundation is pretty much across-the-board opposed to everything Bush and Ashcroft stand for, particularly the PATRIOT act.

Amen my friend, just re-read your whole post. I went to college with all these folks, my first boyfriend in college, a deadhead type, was chronically depressed, used to brag that his Dad promised to buy him a Porche if he would just make a C average. (He wouldn't).

I got real disillusioned when I realized how much of this movement was just age and class specific posing. Not all of it, but a great deal of it.
