I keep tearing up...I want my country back...
I've been watching the convention on PBS...I keep welling up...I've always been passionate about politics.. but this goes beyond politics.. it goes to the heart of what this country really stands for. I truly want my country back...

God Bless...

1. Count me in, too
I want it back, too. Back from fear, back from anger, back from bombing countries preventatively.

7. While the woman was talking about 9/11...and the camera showed...
...the lit matches/lighters in the arena, I spontaniously thought "these are the good people...this is the America I remember."

12. We are retaking it
I have supported Kerry from the day that he decided to set up an exploratory comittee to look into the possibility of running. I am astounded by this years convention. I do not remember a convention as powerful or moving in my entire life and I can remember as far back as the convention at which Kennedy was elected. This is amazing. There is nothing that can stop this Democratic Machine this time around. Everything that has been going on so far has merely been a prelude to what the country is going to see over the next few months. Bush and Cheney and their supporters will not be able to compete with what Kerry is showing he has to offer during this convention. THis is totally amazing.

13. I feel the same way..
I have spent the past few days watching pieces of old DNC conventions and longing for the time and America that we had during Clinton's administration.

It's hard not to tear up.

20. Ditto!
Ain't it grand!
This convention has been the most energized I have ever seen and I have seen many. It is well organized, moving, energizing, and elegant.
I am so proud to be a Dem again!

18. Yes, me too.
It just goes to show you how really bad it is and how very much we care about changing it back. It almost feels good. Jimmy Carter almost had me jumping up and down. Yes, many tears. Bush* has to go, he has to.

19. Are you sure you ever really had it?
Everyone always says that, but the USA have never really been all that great in many ways. Yeah, for a long time we had a lot of jobs. But that period has pretty much gone. We still have more than most countries for sure. But many Asian countries have FAR MORE good jobs for educated people than we have now. It is like the dot com boom right now in Taiwan. But we common Americans never really had as much as some people think we did, unless you are rich.

Better to admit that you want America to be a much better place than it has ever been. Living in a fantasy world never solved anything....

22. Oh Goodness Yes
I work in a middle-class field where pay ranges from 40-50 grand a year. When I first tried to get in the business in 1992, it was impossible to get a job. I went to a convention with 120 job seekers and less than 10 available jobs. In the late 1990's, employers couldn't find anyone to hire -- they were desperate.

Now, there are barely any openings in this field, and lots of people looking again.

23. I whole heartedly agree .. I've been saying it for a long time I
want my sweet country back. This whole convention event has me humbled to tears (as I stated in another thread).

We all need the release from tension and anger. We need to see changes that ease our pain and worry and unnecessary suffering.

I'm so glad I found DU in time. We don't always agree with one another but we do agree we need peace and normalcy brought back to the country we love. May it be so.

Gotta go. Big Dog is on!! :bounce:
