at least for me.

Why oh WHY do the dems feel the need to pander to the religious with this "blessing" stuff. And, she ended it as a fully CHRISTIAN speech - asking for a blessing from the "Father, Son and Holy Spirit."

I hope they let an atheist dismiss the convention tomorrow.

3. Would it hurt to just ignore
the benediction nonsense.
I don't think so.
This is a poiitical event. Not a church service.

4. But why not make it a short and sweet ecumenical effort?
Why make it a Christian prayer? Here's my version:

"Kerry is great,
We're gonna win,
Go in peace,
Let the drinking begin."

Works for me. Maybe tomorrow night...

5. I'm an Atheist
and I really didn't mind. I just turned it off, the convention is over anyway. Relistening to Big Dog on AAR so the buzz goes on. :)

The vast majority of U.S. citizens who are eligible to vote describe themselves as Christians. Makes good sense to me to court the largest voting block.

Look at the numbers here: http://www.census.gov/prod/www/religion.htm

83% of U.S. citizens identify themselves as Christian, Catholic or Protestant.

I think I'd not want to piss off up to 83% of the voters.
