Show the whole world the Convention - on DVD!
So what if the media is trying to filter and even censor the DNC? The Dems' revenge is round and shiny - they should be handing out DVD's of the Convention by the truckloads. Not only would people who missed it be able to see it, but everyone could watch it as often as they wanted, rewind the good parts of the speeches, and maybe best of all, avoid the mind-control spin from the talking-head hypnotists on the "news" channels. How much would thousands of DVD's cost? Somehow, I think it'd be a drop in the bucket compared to what the networks charge for running campaign ads. I suspect it'd be much more effective, too.

Someone out there who has connections, please bring this up to a certifiable Mover-And-Shaker!

1. What? Does no one think this is a good idea?
What are you all going to do in a week when you're trying to talk about tonight's speeches to someone who didn't see them? What do you think would be more effective, your second-hand description, or that person seeing them for himself? I think "hey- here's a copy of the first night of the convention - find Clinton's speech on the menu" would be a lot easier.

3. I want to bang my head on my desk sometimes
Everyone complains about the media, but here's an easy and possibly cheap way to go right around them, most Dems seem to be ignoring it. I know people on the left understand the power of the DVD - look at the number of people salivating at the prospect of F911 on DVD, or look at the brisk sales of Outfoxed. So much potential bang for the buck! Argh!

5. Make a contribution, get a DVD
It works for PBS, doesn't it?

Even if they sold the disks for $5 each or whatever it takes to break even, they could still get a flood of Dem video out to there for little net cost to the party itself.

7. Great idea
But it would take people of vision to put that into action. If Dean was the nominee it would certainly happen but I don't know if the Kerry delegation is as tech-savy. I would hope so.

11. It can easily be done, you just need $$$
You can use DVD-R discs that cost anywhere from .40 to .70 You just need someone to author the DVD and a duplicatior to make the copies. I'd say you could do it right for $1 - $1.25 per disc.
