Boston area commute - Day 2 |
|
Edited on Tue Jul-27-04 08:29 AM by Caution
Once again, my lengthy commute (26 miles each way, on the most congested highway in MA, RT 128/I-95 was easier than normal. Took about 20 minutes less time than it usually takes.
The snarled commute was the big smear on the DNC over the last couple of months here in Boston. The big right-wing rag newspaper (The Boston Herald) harped on it constantly. Oh well, looks like just another distortion.
Yesterday was the easiest commute I have had in months both to work and home.

1. My brother-in-law said the same thing-and he works in Downtown Boston |
|
the 'chicken-little' media blew it out of proportion.

2. I've heard the same thing all over the radio ... |
|
Everyone is talking about how easy the ride is. Nick Carter (WBCN) described Boston as a "ghost town" there was so little traffic.
I think it's a little Y2K-like ... sure, there was a lot of hype, but people working hard to ensure that it didn't happen made the difference.
Now, NYC during the 'thug convention ... that is gonna be a cluster-fuck. The Dems closed down a commuter-rail station--the 'thugs are gonna intefere with the Amtrack lines. There was a story this morning about how hard it is going to be to take the train from Boston to DC thanks to the security measures around Penn Station.

3. the c-span people interviewed the traffic guy in Boston - replayed |
|
it late last night. The guy said traffic would be no problem - he kept saying he was surprised at how well things were going.

They said the same thing about Atlanta for the '96 Olympics. That was the easiest it's ever been to get into this city that loves their cars.
Anything those rags can do to stir the pot of controversy they will.
