1. It has been posted here several times
but I am sure there are still people here that don't know about it.

2. Unless they're doing it illegally, I don't see a problem.
Then again, since I'm not registered at the Miami Herald, I can't read the article. Would you mind posting a snippet? Thanks.

The parties have been doing this for decades -- the earliest I've heard of is Tammany Hall (Democrats) in NYC at the turn of the 20th century, registering as many ignorant souls as they could. They got them in by providing services, and expected them to vote the straight Democratic ticket in return.

4. The problem was the forms were pre-checked Republican.
They weren't given a choice.

Just like the Democrats' dirty tricks in NYC long ago. There is nothing new under the sun.

6. Old Stuff and I Hear Not Really Happening Now...
Things aren't so rosy for the GOOP in little Havana these days. Lots of Cubans are pissed at Bunnypants for putting all sorts of new restrictions on sending money to Cuba and pretty much ingorning them for all the work they did for him in 2000. Voter registration in those areas is down while registrations for blacks and non-Cuban Hispanics is growing. Not good news for Jebbie...he's gonna have to Diebold twice as hard.

In honesty, the Democratic party has done this same thing for a long, long time. My grandfather became a Democrat at the turn of the century since it was his ticket to a better position in his union and more money. It later meant working for the party as part of his union membership and bringing other immigrants onto the voter roles in a similar fashion. It was this work that led to the large flush of new immigrant voters that flocked to FDR and were loyal Democrats for the rest of their lives.

I admire many immigrants who take the time to learn about this country...the language and our system of government. They know a hell of a lot more about democracy and value their vote than the rich fat-asses who only see these people as cheap, exploitable labor.
