Josh Marshall: great point re "Bush may lose b/c he's too exciting" meme:
It's one of the five stages of grief!
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/

He writes about todays' meme, as expressed by Peggy Noonan in the WSJ and David Brooks in the NYT, that perhaps Bush may lose because he's ben too exciting, and that we want someone more "normal":
"First we have denial. Then anger. And with this argument we have something akin to that tipping-point stage of 'bargaining' -- the sensible pundits' first tip-toe out onto a serious consideration of the impact of the president's term of office."

Well, if that's the case, it'll be a doozy of a fall for Republicans.

Stage 4: Depression.
Stage 5: Acceptance.

To be immediately followed by an "Acceptance" speech by John Kerry!

2. Bush is exciting?
About as exciting as that brother-in-law who
keeps robbing 7/11's or keeps borrowing money
from you to pay for a sack of groceries for his kids
after betting it all on the races.

As exciting as the son who lives off his trust
fund while lying out by the pool day after day;

as exciting as the kid who puts firecrackers
up frog's butts to gleefully watch blood and guts
spew everywhere....

The kind of excitement lands you in jail
or a mental ward.

3. OK, whatever works for them
As long as they're rationalizing, they're not plotting or scheming.

6. I could have sworn some winger was calling Bush solidly boring
compared to Howard Dean many moons ago. It would be fun to pull something like that out of the memory hole.
