Clinton's Speech - Amazing |
|
I was busy puttering around the house with the Convention on in the background. When Clinton came out, I had to sit down and really listen to what he had to say.
I must say, this was one of the best speeches I've ever heard him give. At one point, tears were rolling down my face. He was speaking my feelings in ways I never could.
His whole point about a "perfect nation" or his statement that "strength and wisdom are not mutually exclusive." Amazing economy of words. But it was his point that the Republicans need a divided nation that put so much of how I feel in a nutshell. It makes total and complete sense.
I was moved by his ability to communicate complex issues into a simple and understandable form.
Did you see the faces of those on the Convention floor while they listened. It was amazing. Bill Clinton, with all his inner demons, is everything that George Bush is not.
Wonderful speech delivered in nearly flawless fashion. Congrats Mr. Clinton.
How did you feel about his speech?

like I did last night hearing a politician speak. I was also very taken with Carter's speech.
I agree with you, it was the best speech I have heard him give. With Clinton and Carter on Kerry's side, I am that much more confident for a Novemeber landslide. Not just victory, landslide.
What I found the most reassuring was he called out the republican strategy and hampered their ability over the next 99 days. Everytime they bash Kerry via ad or pundit, Clinton's words will ring true. "They need to portray us as weak and without values. They need a divided nation."
I miss him.
Edited to ad: He puts Reagan's speaking ability to shame. I know republicans like to tout Reagan as the great communicator but NO! Clinton puts Reagan to shame.

5. now he needs to go give it on the campaign trail |
|
especially in some key areas like Arkansas and Tennessee where he can appeal to the southern voters and St. Louis and Philadelphia where he can appeal to the African-American voters

7. It really was a beautiful speech wasn't it? |
|
Very well written and delivered. And, yes, the contrast between what we had and what we have could not be more overwhelming. I am so glad that so many voters tuned in last night.

in both delivery and content.
He seems to be moving ever closer to a MLK style of speaking--very reminiscent of the best of the black preachers. Such a soothing, musical tone.
I liked his use of some of the memes he and others have used before, e.g., "send me/JK" and "my tax cut". He really put it all together--the speech was both fresh and familiar.
While I have a couple of issues with his presidency, I sure do miss the Big Dog.

I loved the fact that he included himself as the top 1% who received the tax cut. This gave the speech a certain honesty. The who "My Tax Cut." went over well.
Amazing man. And to think that he was replaced by someone who got C's at Yale (and is proud of it).
