I just donated to the Kerry/Edwards Campaign YOU SHOULD TOO!
And this is the email I sent to all the people on my email list, asking them to join me:
Dear Friends,

As most of you know, I do not watch TV any more. I'm fed up with Corporate lies and bull s***. Long before far-right wing conservative groups such as PNAC (Project for a New American Century) stole the election in 2000 and placed their moronic sock puppet in the White House, I had become totally frustrated and fed up with Democrats. To be honest, I did not vote for Al Gore--primarily because living here in California I was certain our electoral votes would go to him. I voted third party to make a statement.

Having lived the past almost four years under the REIGN of the installed but unelected pResident, George 'W' Bush, and watched via the internet as this country has not merely SLID but been DRIVEN full force toward unbridled, unrepentant, extreme right wing war-profiteering neo-FASCISM, I have become increasingly alarmed. Some of you may think the use of the word "fascism" is extreme--but I assure you it is not. Mussolini once said, "Fascism should more appropriately be called corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power." When you have the Vice President of the United States allowing his corporation, Haliburton, achieve NO BID CONTRACTS in an illegal war, what else would you call it?

I knew already that this country had major challenges ahead of it. I knew already that putting 'W' in the White House would be the worst possible thing that could happen to this country. But, even so, I HAD NO IDEA just how devastating a Bush Presidency would be. In four short years his handlers have LOOTED our economy (where the hell do you think all this treasury money is GOING if not in the pockets of the WAR PROFITEERS, ENERGY COMPANIES, and private 'SECURITY' COMPANIES they own stock in?), made us increasingly vulnerable to terrorist attacks (THEY KNEW AND THEY LET IT HAPPEN, the 9/11 report is a white wash), launched an illegal war from which we are now going to have to extradite ourselves at extreme cost (and LIED repeatedly and without contest from most of the corporate owned media), and have shamed us repeatedly in the eyes of the international community. Perhaps worst of all, he and his handlers and their agenda, under the PRETENSE of National Security, have moved this nation ever closer to the point where the Constitution of the United States--and the powers it reserves FOR US to protect ourselves from precisely this kind of despotism--has become a useless relic. As bad as some of us might have suspected it would become, who could have imagined it would become as bad as this?

I did not watch the opening speeches last night at the Democratic National Convention but I did read them on-line. (I have copies of most of them in transcript if any of you would like to have them.) From what I read I can see clearly that the Democrats are mounting a very INTELLIGENT campaign against these war-profiteering and fear-mongering bastards. It was understated but pointedly stated. I had been RELUCTANT to donate any of my hard-earned money to the Kerry campaign--unsure whether I could TRUST the Democrats in this situation. But after what I read last night, I am convinced that I must donate. Donating today is every bit as much a STATEMENT OF PROTEST against the policies of George W. Bush as voting third party was three and a half years ago. And so, today, I donated $100 to the Kerry/Edwards campaign because I not only want them to DEFEAT George W. Bush and his neo-conservative agenda, I want them to TROUNCE THEM overwhelmingly. I want a strong, clear statement sent to the powers that be that WE will not longer tolerate this kind of extremism from the corporate elite.

For this reason, I am asking you to follow the link below and JOIN ME in donating to the Kerry/Edwards campaign. It doesn't matter HOW MUCH you give -- every little bit helps -- but please give as much as you can. And REMEMBER, the time is running short. Once he has accepted the nomination for President of the Democratic party on Thursday, donations can not be made directly TO his campaign.

Thank you for putting up with my long winded diatribe--and THANK YOU for donating.

xxxx xxxx

PS: The **** were added by the Kerry/Edwards web site. Apparently they don't want me to be using 'bad' words. LOL!! I guess it is 'free speech' so long as it isn't potentially offensive. ;)

PPS: Please send this on to others you may know if you are so inclined.
