2. He said that listening to Reverend Alston's speech, especially the part
about Kerry turning the swift boat toward the enemy fire rather than to run down river makes him feel able to sleep at night even if Kerry were president.

He said that he disagrees with Kerry 90% of the time but if Kerry were president, he could sleep at night because of Kerry's willingness to take on the enemy.

3. We saw that too and about passed out...
One of the other commentators (Fineman I think) even stated that was as close as you could get to a Scarborough endorsement. My friend and I both were stunned with his comments! :kick:

5. Scarborough is an entirely different person when he's doing analysis...
...for MSNBC panel shows than when he's doing commentary on "Scarborough Country."

On "Scarborough Country," he's SUPPOSED to be a right-wing pit bull. On panel shows, his job is to provide analysis, which he usually does with a great deal more impartiality than he does on his show.

I'm always surprised to watch the difference, because it's incredibly stark!

6. Another case of repubs being in the 3rd stage of grief: Bargaining.
See my post here re Josh Marshall's astute observation.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x2077368

1) Denial
("We're great, the country's doing great, the economy's great, we're defeating the terrorists... everything's GREAT!")

2) Anger
("How DARE you criticize the president! You hate-mongers!")

3) Bargaining
("Well, he was working with the best intelligence he had. So maybe Bush will lose because he's too exciting. At least I could sleep at night knowing Kerry's in charge.")

And these two to come:
4) Depression
("Oh NO! We're losing the White House! The world is over! The Republican Party is dead, and Osama will soon be sleeping in the Lincoln Bedroom!")

5) Acceptance
("Oh well. We'll have our chance running Ahh-nold in 2008.")

2 1/2 -3 yrs ago". and said it didnt read like any government document he had ever read.

8. I don't like Scarborough. In fact, I despise him. But...
I live in his town. I see him around sometimes when he's in town. I think he's a beady-eyed little twerp who may very well have had something to do with a murder (or certainly helped cover up an investigation into a posssible murder to prevent political damage). I think his opinions and his politics are almost always illogical and without merit.

That being said, from what I have seen of him locally as our representative, he does posess a certain weird independence. It would not be beyond the realm of possibility to me that he eventually jump ship, if it becomes obvious enough that we are NOT safer today than we were 4 years ago.
