Our nation is fully "IDIOTIZED"... any country that allows the media to
be owned by the rich corporations and condones the takeover by watching the manure they throw at the citizens with loud screams of fascination and happiness is not a rational country.

I remember that my kids were kind of "isolated" in school because we did not watch TV (we had a VCR and rented the movies we wanted from an outfit in PA that had classics and European movies we would never get in this small town). But they have grown to be real human beings.

I am sorry, but after trying to watch the convention coverage on cable news (finally switching to C-Span, but checking occasionally to see what sludge was being thrown at the Democratic speeches) I AM ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED!!!! The Teresa stuff and the Kerry clean suit have taken the last ounce of belief in the capability of reality to seep through sludge...

1. Stick with C-SPAN.
It's the only way to watch conventions. I can't stand the commentary, positive or negative. I just want the media, for once, to shut up and let news happen.

2. BUT THEY DON'T. And people are IDIOTIZED. They need to have
these jerks tell them what "reality" is. They have been trained like seals.

7. I've tried. No lawyer will touch it
that I could find anyway.

I like how move.on is going after Faux for "false advertising". It may not work, but it will at least draw attention to the problem.

To sue the networks one has to be prepared to lose a lot of money in the process. One must be prepared to end up paying the other side's legal fees.

Moveon can do that.

11. FCC has a *policy* on news distortion... so it's not law

"Because the FCC’s news distortion policy is not a “law, rule, or regulation” under section 448.102, Akre has failed to state a claim under the whistle-blower's statute."

6. Yeah but the flip side is that
We probably have more oppurtunities to scrutinize our government that at any previous time in history. I mean I'm not saying there isn't stuff that goes on behind closed doors; but we got C-Span, we have a lot of information on the various congressional websites. Even the whitehouse site, although obviously prey to some spin, still let's you read a lot of transcripts.

Do we take advantage of this?

8. Wish I had C-Span to watch it on....
Our cable company up here splits carriage on one channel between C-Span and Bravo.

About 7 PM, they hit the switch and BOOM! you're on Bravo!, which isn't bad, but if you were getting onto something on C-Span and you're suddenly in the middle of a book discussion....

I have to wonder, will BSRNC have Al Franken on to comment on the RNC? Why not? they have plenty of ReTHUG shills working the DNC....

9. PBS was ok
at one point Brooks was in the middle of trying to smear Carter's (amazing) speech, and Carter showed up in the middle of it. with that gentle but firm way of his he really put Schnooks in his place.

10. passified, indivualized, indoctrinated
Some people actually analize that, which is a science unto itself. Though it's really just a matter of common sense to see things for what they are, the problem is common sense eludes most people thanks to the very succesfull stupification.

12. If you have not yet contacted the FCC to DEMAND PUBLIC HEARINGS
for the Media Ownership rules (which M Powell is AGAIN trying to sneak over on), do it today. That strikes at the heart of one major aspect of this problem. TELL THE FCC YOU WANT PUBLIC HEARINGS.

13. That's why their ratings are so bad.

AAR has more listeners than all the cable nets combined
have viewers.
