NEVER WATCH CNN AGAIN! They are UNBELIEVABLE...Kerry bashing
Edited on Tue Jul-27-04 02:53 PM by jackstraw45
Unfortunately, I just turned on CNN for the first time in probably 7-8 months hoping for some convention coverage.

Instead, I see them showing a picture of Dukakis in a tank and comparing it to John Kerry wearing MANDATORY safety gear during a NASA tour last week. Unbelievable.

I will NEVER EVER watch CNN again.

I ASK you to JOIN ME in this pledge and to let CNN know TODAY that they have lost your viewership FOREVER.

The Corporate media has gotten SO bad we NEED to sacrifice a channel to send a MESSAGE. THIS IS A NECESSARY ACTION by all of us.

1. They wanted to see some candidate bashing
And since the Democrats aren't giving it to them, they're out there on their own, doing it for themselves.

Next week, they'll bitch and moan about the Democratic Convention, saying that they "didn't really find out anything about Kerry." Well no shit, you were too busy manufacturing your own news to pay any attention to what was going on in front of your overfed faces.

28. Well, I haven't turned on Faux news in years...
but this is about CNN turning into an infotainment channel for RNC propaganda morning, noon and night and about TURNING THEM OFF forever and letting them know that democrats aren't going to watch their propaganda anymore.

Daryn Kagen, Judy Woodruff, Candy Crowly and the rest of the team take their marching orders from Karl Rove. They are told what to stress and to promote RNC talking points day after day.

This is an information WAR for the future of our country.

Turn off Rush...Turn off CNN...and of course, turn off FAUX.

47. Welcome, themonster!
:toast:

The problem is that most Americans think that Fox News is the only problem.

In varying degrees, network news on the other channels (ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC) is also biased against the Democrats. But because the perception remains that places like CNN are "liberal", people take their words as gospel.

A lot depends on who the anchor is. Koppel, Rather, Brokaw, Jennings, and Aaron Brown are, for the most part, still reasonably fair. But the daytime anchors on CNN are unbelievably biased: Bill Hemmer has become increasingly GOP-whorish, Daryn Kagan swallows GOP talking points whole and regurgitates them without thinking (remember the David Letterman/yawning kid backpedal?), and Wolf Blitzer and Judy Woodruff are blatantly pro-Bush.

34. My feedback to CNN
I am disgusted with your coverage of the Democratic National Convention. Instead of providing news you have provided right wing "analysis" and removed the Democrats voice with this "analysis" You are also wasting valuable air time with ridiculous pictures of John Kerry that are clearly designed to undermine his Presidential bid.

A news organization should report the news and report what people have said on the topics of the day. Do you honestly believe that a man in a NASA clean suit is news worthy? Apparently so, your "news" is little more than tabloid television, you provide your viewers with 90% opinion and 10% fact.

I will no longer be viewing CNN its affiliates or its domains -- You are NOT the "most trusted name in news" in my household any more.

39. Naturally... the scum bags
They "came of age" with Desert Storm and have been a blight on the ass of America ever since. They were a tolerable blight, but a blight none the less. Their bread and butter is conflict and they seem awkward and clueless when covering anything else.

But now, after just over 10 years of appalling yellow journalism, I've finally had enough.

I was so irritated with 20 minutes I saw this morning that, after I got to work, I had to rant here and put up a poll over it.

I rarely do those things.

But now... CNN has hit a new and final low for me.

Told him I would never watch their network again and that, like Fox News, CNN would be blocked from viewing in my home.

They are in some ways worse than Fox. At least they make no pretense to be 'fair' and people still think CNN is the liberal channel. With friends like that who needs enemies. So Kagan said the viewership was low for the convention? Of course it wouldn't occur to them that they had something to do with it? A lot of us were on cspan and wouldn't go near the networks. Wonder if cspan ratings have been higher than usual.

48. My Comments To CNN & A Kick
You Have Lost A Long Time Viewer

I would like to know what you are attempting to accomplish with your coverage of the DNC? Well, I don't know what the answer is but I can tell you what it looks like to me. It looks like one, unceasing, attack on John Kerry and his wife. You have really outdone yourselves this time though. You have managed to take every, negative, Republican talking point against the last three democratic nominees, roll them all into one festering attack ad and give your, right-leaning pundits full permission to swing-away with it all. All of this interspersed with a few nice speeches to give the appearance that you are actually "covering" the convention. Yeah, your covering it alright but I won't go into what your covering it with.

Lets see:

He's boring=Al Gore
He Makes Stuff Up=Al Gore
He's A flip-flopper=Bill Clinton
His wife is out of control=Bill Clinton
His wife is out of control=Mike Dukakis
He takes silly pictures=Mike Dukakis

Now, I can usually stomach most of the bile that now passes for news on CNN but this latest story (see Republican feeding frenzy) of John Kerry and the picture of him in the clean-suit has pretty much finished it for me. What are you doing to level of discourse in this country? Heaven forbid that someone would have to wear a clean-suit on a spacecraft. Is that funny stuff to you? What‘s apparently even funnier to CNN is that he was enjoying himself. Yup, genuine enjoyment and the smiles that accompany it should defiantly be considered a target for ridicule and rise to the level of political discourse. CNN is absolutely pathetic in it’s coverage of both John Kerry and the DNC (and most other things as well) is even worse. I have been watching you from your start but that pastime has now come to an end. These are serious times and you are not serious journalists.

Over the last 24 hours CNN has fallen to such lows, I thought, only attempted by Fox. Your alliance with the right wing fringe in American politics has become sickening. I refer to the meeting with GOP senators and representatives. I am watching C-Span right now, and will continue throughout the election season, I will no longer watch CNN because of the intentional lack of objectivity. 58. BOYCOTT - get their attention.

1. When this crap comes out we need to counter it immediately. Email every address on the internet with pics of * doing his everyday stuff. Create a hotmail account if you want to be anonymous, and send to everyone you know. Make a list- media-congress-friends-family-businesses. You only need to create it once. Keep addin to it. SPAM them. I know it's 'wrong', but they do it. And it's working. How many LIEING emails do we debunk daily here? Need help ask me.

2. Email write and phone EVERY time they show this full-on partisan crap. Use the word boycott like an anthem, put it in the subject line. Use Outlook? Mozilla? Or Microsoft express? 3. Go on a 'guerilla' media blitz. Leave DNC talking points in restrooms, reataurants, taxis. Put bumper stickers (and there are plenty that do a great job of putting * in his place) on any surface that we can.

4. Wear democratic talking point t-shirts.

5. Put a sign in your car window.

We are the MAJORITY folks. We have matched Bush with small donations - 10X as many as from his 'base' Don't forget it! Be proud knowing you are doing the right thing.

We are an intelligent, caring group of people. We raised more money, we can raise more awareness.

60. I don't watch it. What was their beef about Kerry?
Did they want another shuttle to explode?

They really don't know anything about KSC. If you go near a clean room it is exactly that. Sterile environment.

they think they are talking to children.

They will report when the billion dollar Hubble didn't work because of dust, not over their heads. You know, in their super clean rooms no makeup, no hand creams, never mind. Bunny suits are too funny.

What's up with them? Are we at the supermarket with Bush I again and the scanners. What's this?

Send them a news flash, they are used in hospitals too. Nuclear power plants, computer companies.......

65. It ALL comes from the Corporate Media bosses....
They send the memo that tells producers WHAT will be said.

WE KNOW what the White House does. You folks who watch CNN see their script EVERY day.

66. It might be more effective
to say you won't watch until they change their anti-Democratic stance.

If they have lost you forever - there is no incentive to change.

I do believe that the conservatives have been more effective in creating a "conservative" media with all of their calls/emails.

68. They've crossed a line....a network of RNC propaganda
Always taking shots at democrats.

I'll NEVER listen to Rush.

And unless CNN fires Judy, Wolf, Candy, Daryn, & the gang, I don't see much major changes coming.

Unless the government breaks up the Corporate Media giants, this type of RNC infotainment will continue as long as it's watched with glee from the right and watched with anger from the left.

It's about making the rich richer and keeping the poor and middle class in a servile mode. Emails won't change it.

67. CNN is so lightweight these days
Edited on Wed Jul-28-04 11:35 AM by socialdemocrat1981
When I was in the US last year I watched CNN on a few occasions and found it not only to be biased but also quite lightweight in the kind of news it covered

It's funny...back when I had regular access to CNN in 1991, it was much more informative and balanced and had some genuinely good quality shows on during that time. It seems to have deteriorated significantly somewhere over the previous eleven years
