"The jobs picture isn't healthy yet,
we hear from economist Irwin Kellner, PhD."

From 8/1/04 issue of Bottom Line Person (my boss gets it, has his secretary copy for everybody).

"...the economy is still down by 1.5 million jobs since early 2001. In the next 12 months, it should pick up, but not by much."

"Corporate profits, buoyed by productivity gains, rose 26% in the first quarter and an estimated 20% in the second."

In a nutshell, Corporations are making plenty of money and doing it with low employee count. None of their profits are going to job creation.

Next time I hear business is good for the economy I swear I'll puke.

:puke:

1. Only companies that create good American jobs should get taxcuts
Everybody else can pay, pay and pay some more. And pay.

2. Didn't chimp claim that lower Taxes would mean more jobs?
So far, lower taxes mean more money to spend at Sotheby's and Christies.

4. In 2000 I had a slogan in the NY Times Politcal forum...
"Need to pay your bills? Forget about it - Vote Republican, 'cause that rich guy needs a new yacht."

6. Sorry, nope. I tried to find it but can't.
Is this a no no, quoting from print even though I've cited the issue?

5. I don't need an economist to tell me that. I'll experience it every day
No good jobs available where I live (N TX). I guess I could flip burgers for minimum wage...but I don't know if they hire people with a Master's degree.

Whenever they talk about how good the economy is, I just laugh (sometimes I cry). :puke:
