Who is worried that MM may be physically assaulted in Crawford?

He is supposed to show up tomorrow for a screening of F9/11,
but I know there are a number of wing nuts in Texas, some of whom
will be so incensed by the "invade our turf" action of traveling
to Crawford that they may be incited to do violence to Michael.
Anyone else think this is likely or possible?

8. How many, and how good?

I'm serious. The most likely form of assault would be a high
powered rifle at a distance... which means a low probability
of success, but also negates the bodyguards to a great degree.

I'm probably being paranoid, but...

11. Puh-LEEZ- I'm from Texas and we own guns but we don't support
Bush. There are LOTS of people here who don't support Bush-dont' forget Ann Richards was governor before Bush took over in his weak-governor role (don't let anyone fool you, Lt Gov held the REAL power in this state). There is road-kill on my road right now- a coyote and 3 armadillos but nobody, even the rednecks, do not eat it.

7. I was thinking about that too
and I don't know how much good bodyguards are going to do in a gun-toting, Bush-loving area like that ... I'm not sure how protected he's going to be but I wouldn't be shocked if one of those nutjobs down there decided to take a pot-shot at him in the name of "patriotism"

9. Free advice to anyone thinking along those lines
Mr. Moore is a firm believer in exercising his right to keep and bear arms and is a life member of the NRA. Don't bring anything small if you're looking to hurt him.

10. Why worry about something you have absolutely no control over?
A person can take precautions for forseeable events.
Anyone other than Michael Moore, his manager, security director and immediate family who "worries" whether he may be attacked, needs to think of other important things in THEIR own life.

13. I guess by that logic
I shouldn't worry about whether or not little Iraqi babies get blown up because after all, it's not my own life ... I don't think anyone here said they were losing sleep over whether MM was going to get attacked or shot, but the amount of security he would travel with to an area like that is an interesting and valid question, I think

23. No, but i find it somewhat someone is worrying over his safety
Do they lose sleep over the homeless in america, the starving children in America, I am going to WORRY about things that I may have an impact on. I, being in Washington State cannot protect Michael Moore in TEXAS! distance alone demands I worry about something I can do something about.

This has the flavor of a teen mag where some heart-sick girl is just hoping justin breaks up with brittney and falls for the fan.
you are worried Michael is going to be assaulted, Will the Dems shun Michael Moore at the Convention...the DEMS SHUN Michael at convention! oh no!..NO WAIT! Michael gets to attend the convention!
I'm sorry, but I can't get my shorts in a bunch over this.

Michael Moore is a human being just like you, me, and everyone else, no better, no worse. I wish him no ill will. But I will not waste my time worrying about Michael Moore's safety.

Dead babies are another issue, and i protested the war, stood on street corners and am locally very active against the policy that is killing babies(see, something I CAN do instead of just WORRY!)

19. Of course it's possible
JFK died on a Texas tour. MLK lost his life in Memphis while participating in labor organizing for sanitation workers. Or go back to President Lincoln, shot in a theatre by a wingnut who couldn't accept that his side lost the war.

And if you don't think Moore's quite in their esteemed league, remember how Larry Flynt lost the use of his legs on the courthouse steps. Remember Judy Bary, the Earthfirst activist bombed by the FBI's pets in the Oakland Police, then framed for planting the bomb that took her legs. Even Dr. Barnett Slepian was killed in cold blood, simply for working at a women's health clinic where he performed abortions and other ob-gyn procedures.

Above all, know that this is their plan for ALL unashamed liberals. Anyone who disagrees with their nasty medieval version of the American way is a candidate for political murder. The figureheads, like JFK and MLK, are just examples to intimidate the rest of us -- the high-profile trophy targets. Become sufficiently active and high-profile, especially outside the mainline political system, and you too will become someone's target for battery and murder.

My :tinfoilhat: tells me if the BFEE has a nutcase off him it would be in a Demo friendly state so that the RW wingnut angle can be minimized.
