5. Mississippi delegates were a lot of fun at the 1984 convention
They all looked like Mark Twain. Check 'em out.

4. This isn't going to be a popular sentiment, but
ugh. Why not just tie-die the Fleet Center and have the speakers come out in clothes made of organic hemp?

6. You say that like it's a bad thing
I'm a younger person but I love and appreciate all the old hippies that are coming out of the woodwork. They made things possible for all of us. :)

Of course I am wearing a tie-dye t-shirt right now...

12. Indeed!
I'm glad to see those sentiments are still alive today. It's good to see so many people my age taking up the call with protest songs, etc. just like in those days.

13. Where's Joan Baez when we need her?
Edited on Tue Jul-27-04 05:45 PM by spenbax
People were'nt so complacent in the 60's and certainly spoke up for their rights even if it meant being arrested. History is repeating itself and we're not paying attention (not you and I, expressly).

8. Did you listen to the timely lyrics?
Nothing wrong with bringing in a little peaceful tradition.

10. Hey, I'm 46, and you know what I've had to listen to that
I can't stand?

LOUNGE LIZARD MUSIC. And the Beach Boys. Lots of it.

Lighten up!

7. They did bring a tear to my eye. . .
Even though (as I said in another thread), Mary's voice has deteriorated hugely, they still have the ability to wring out emotion.

And what more can be said about Ossie Davis? Even just doing an introduction, he still has the ability to command your complete attention.
