27. Truly. What a debut! Now we need to watch him and see how he |
|
performs, most likely, in the United States Senate, in the very near future. But he was given a very solid starting block, and he leaped from it into the pool as though he were an Olympic swimmer. Really world class. LOTS of promise. Plus, he has those intangibles that help you get elected, all other things being equal. Charm, charisma, gorgeous smile, nice-looking without being distractingly handsome, obvious intelligence, compassion, a deep sense of commitment and a drive to do good for his fellow Americans.
Do we have bench strength, or do we have bench strength?

36. You forgot to mention a sense of humor |
|
He's one of the few politicos I've ever seen who has a genuine, self-deprecating sense of humor. There is not a doubt in my mind that he will be President one day. He truly is amazing.

so far he's a state legislator.
there's more to politics than giving a good stump speech. though i'll certainly give him that much.
this is the first time i've actually heard him. i like what i hear, but let's talk in 4 years after he's worked some magic in the senate....

|
If he is as capable a legislator as he is a speaker, I think it's entirely possible.

He's a good speaker from a teleprompter but IMO is too detached. Not in the same league as Jesse Jackson.

all wrapped up in one of the best speaking styles I ever saw! My first time to hear/see him also. I think he may be a large part of our collective future - and you know what? I am reassured by that.

Yes, he was utterly amazing tonight. Very fluid in his words and truly a wizard at putting all the pieces together to make a vivid picture for all to see.
But what I fear...is that the dark actors may assign him the same fate as the Kennedy brothers and MLK Jr. I pray my fears are wholly unfounded.

It will work out great. The country won't go for 12 years of a Democratic president. Edwards can lose and then Obama can be our president.

I think WE will be the party to break the color barrier in the White House. At the very LEAST, to Blair House. I can envision him in eight years being Edwards' running mate. And from there, straight to the top. He was HUGELY impressive. HUGELY. A star is born. And he's OURS!!!!!
Obama bin ROCKIN'!

28. Agreed. By the way, did you hear his "my brother's keeper" comment? |
|
Remember here on DU when we were talking about The Party of Cain - how would Democrats respond if God asked us the Cain question, versus how republi-CONS would answer. Dems would say "you BET I am - what can I do to help?" republi-CONS would say "HELL NO! I got MINE and NOBODY'S taking it away from me! My brother can go cheney himself!" I wonder if Obama was reading over our shoulders...
