I hope that is not politically incorrect to say.

2. Thank you Barack Obama!
It's easy to forget how good for the emotions great political oratory can be. There were moments I thought he was talking right to me, and I was only watching on the television! What an inspiring speaker!!

10. Well
I'll have to read the speech again. All I heard was the same words I've heard all week. It just sounded like "We need to go forward, not backward" and "I believe in America" and the like. Anybody got a transcript?

and FEEL the electricity, no transcript will help you.

16. I felt the electricity of the teleprompter
Edited on Tue Jul-27-04 09:43 PM by wtmusic
if anyone believes that speech had "electricity" they need to listen to MLK's "I have a dream", or this one:

http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/jessejackson1984dnc.htm

Obama, by comparison, is monotone.

30. EVERYONE is monotone by comparison to MLK
And Jesse's speeches in recent years have declined rapidly in quality. Too long playing the game, I suspect.

Obama had charisma and his timing was remarkable, better than most politicians I've heard. ALso, MLK and Jesse Jackson come from a pulpit tradition, which gives their political speeches a whole other feeling.

22. Turn on C-SPAN for a repeat broadcast.
They will show all of the speeches again after the convention is over tonight. You need to see and HEAR this man.

15. Correct.
And all I really heard was stuff that was basically "We need to move America forward" and "I believe in America". That just doesn't sound too inspiring.

But I'll try to get my hands on a copy of the speech, I'm sure I will be proved wrong.

19. hmmm
We worship an awesome God in the Blue States and have gay friends in the Red States. There are patriots who opposed the war in Iraq and patriots who supported it. We are one people, all of us pledging allegiance to the stars and stripes, all of us defending the United States of America.

26. Sad that there are those who were not moved by
Obama's inspiring speech. Either they are cynics, die-hard Repubs, depressed, or their emotions are in the throes of death.

24. Obama is the REAL DEAL!
He's got the passion of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the charisma of BOTH William Jefferson Clinton AND Ronald Wilson Reagan, the intellect of Thomas Jefferson, the integrity of Abraham Lincoln, and the courage of George Washington.

This man is the REAL DEAL!

My wife is an attorney and she guaranteed me two things. Number one, Barack Obama could name the law firm and go to work for them immediatley. Number two, if Barack Obama had taught a law class at Loyola Law School, she would have never missed that class!

I have never seen so much excitement about a man who is a state senator before in my life...he deserves it...just wish he would have taken Bush to task on the lies to get us into war on Meet the Whores this past Sunday...other than that I love the guy...wish him the best of luck...a good man!
