Obama-rama-MAMA!
Edited on Tue Jul-27-04 09:34 PM by BeHereNow
Or in the words of Lincoln...
"fOUR SCORE AND SEVEN YEARS AGO, our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created EQUAL.

Now we are engaged in a great civil war: testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can endure.
We are met on a great battle-field of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field. as a final resting place for those that gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether
fitting and proper that we should do this.

But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate, we can not consecrate-
wer can not hallow-this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add
or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we
say here, but it can never forget what they did here.
It is for us, the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought herehave thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the task remaining before us- that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full
measure of devotion-that we highly resolve that these dead have not died in vain-that this nation,
under God, shall have a new birth of freedom-
AND THAT GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE,
SHALL NOT PERISH FROM THE EARTH."

"IT IS FOR US- the living."

For the first time in a LONG time- I have hope.
Thank you Barak Obama!

3. He's the REAL DEAL
He has the passion of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Charisma of William Jefferson Clinton AND Ronald Wilson Reagan, the intellect of Thomas Jefferson, the integrity of Abraham Lincoln, and the courage of George Washington.

He's the REAL DEAL!

both good and bad opinions, I have formed my own after that speech. I firmly believe that America has just listened to the future black American President.

8. Even one of my Repub friends said he did good
he said that if he ever runs for President, he would consider voting for him. This means a lot since he isn't even breaking party lines this election

23. Meet Barack Obama!
Obama creds:

After attending Columbia University, he came to Chicago, joined a church based group to help residents of poor south side neighborhood. He attended Harvard Law School, became the first African American President of the Harvard Law Review.

Came back to Chicago and practiced civil rights law. Representing victims of housing and employment discrimination, and worked on voting right legislation. He began teaching at University of Chicago Law School, and then ran for the state senat in his district wich included: Hyde Park and some of the poorest ghettos of the South Side. He has spent 7 years as a state senator.

In 1992, he lead a registration drive that put 150,000 new voters on the rolls. He led a campaign for death penalty reforms which resulted in legislation that required police to videotape all interrogations in capital cases. He recently co-sponsored legislation to curb racial profiling.

Source: The New Yorker May 31st 2004, starting on page 32

He has consistently taken on issues that directly affect his constituents and has always been forthright and straightforward. His legislation and activism reflect his beliefs. He doesn't just talk the talk, he walks the walk.

He has more "cred" that Dubya, who had nothing on his resume except a series of embarrassing failures as a businessman and a flukey win in Texas.
