Chris Heinz reminds me of JFK jr and I can't help but think
of him during this convention. :( I find myself sad not only just because he is not here with us anymore, but sad at what an awesome voice for the Democratic party. I watched the speech he made at a DNC convention a few years back and I always thought he would excel one day in politics.

Chris Heinz reminds me of him, not only with his good looks :) but with the same kind of out-going personality that resonates well with people.

1. IMO
He gave a very awkward speech. He was sincere, but he just seemed very awkward on stage. Nothing against him!

5. When was the last time you gave YOUR first speech
before thousands of people in the room and a national TV audience?????

Sheesh ... I thought he was remarkably poised.

Ease off a bit. He has potential.

8. Why the need to head for a critical place first, then?

9. Because he did not impress me
I was making a comment that he did not particularly strike me as being on the same level of JFK JR. The speeches have been fantastic, and while I do not doubt Chris' heart, it just wasn't as well spoken as the others, IMO.

11. He wasn't there to be JFK Jr
He was just there to introduce his mother.

13. And that is why he was fine
And it is also why it is not fair to start comparing him to JFK Jr. Like I said, he has potential and could very well shake up to be like him, but certainly not now.

16. let me be REAL clear on this:
there is NO comparing one to the other--they are their own person. What I do SEE is SIMILARITIES and that resonates memories of someone I deeply admire.

2. There are some uncanny resemblances
I think the Heinz sons, Wes Clark's son, JFK Jr. and Jaimie Rubin all look like they could be brothers.

3. A true story about Chris Heinz
I met Chris at a fundraiser in Pittsburgh last Monday and after introducing myself as "frank frankly from DU", I made a request of Chris. My father, an undecided voter, had a policy question for the Kerry campaign. I gave Chris the question and my father's email.

The next day, Chris emailed my father. He wrote a page response to my father's question and thanked him for his interest.

Very very impressive fellow. My father was moved and perhaps will vote for Kerry, now.

14. Your not the Only One
Me and my mom thought the same thing. My mom made a comment about his suit-asking if some of the men got their suits from the same place. She said he looked like JFK jr in the suit he was wearing. I then told her that when he was speaking I was thinking he looked like jr. She was thinking the same thing. I also mentioned to her how it made me think that that could have been John on the stage if not for the plane crash. I also thought about what it would have been like if he had not died. I too wish he was still here. I thought about him running for president.

15. I was thinking the same.
Chris has a career if he wants it. You could tell, he was a tad nervous and not used to talking to that many people. It made his speech that much more real.
I've no doubt that JFK Fr. would have ended up in politics. He was groomed for it. It's just too sad for me to think aobut sometimes.

18. I saw him too at the convention
and the similarity of losing their fathers, so young. The plane crashes that took JFK Jr., John Heinz, and Paul Wellstone. So many good die young.

Wasn't Heinz investigating something at the time?

This convention has not been stuffy so far. Everyone has seemed to be at ease. I big thumbs up for another son, Ron Reagan.

P.S.
You know you're getting old when you look at the sons on the podium and say I remember when his Dad was at the podium.

19. Handsome but not JFK Jr handsome...
Well delivered speech...He shows promise but...

Thought he should have pushed Kerry a little more - he had an opportunity that someone with less opportunities would have made more of.

Not hungry enough...IMO.

20. He's a dead-ringer for him.
I initially did a double-take when he walked out, as if I saw Elvis pumping gas at my local Citgo.

I also agree that he has the same spark that John Jr. had. He could be a star of the party if he chose to be one.
