Howard Dean will be Surgeon general in a Kerry admin. |
|
He will lead the fight and transition to a sane health care policy. Who better than Dr. Dean?

1. I'd prefer him as Secretary of Health and Human Services |
|
We desperately need first aid there, to counter the damage done by shrub's ideologue appointees.
The Surgeon General is more of a figurehead position. Secretary of HHS is extremely powerful. Dean would be perfect there.

This is the position where the good Doctor will shine.
or Howard head up the DNC and revitalizes the Democratic Party. I know, I know but a girl can dream.

13. I disagree......... he's a centrist, will be for more cuts |
|
We need someone in that position who can be strong, and hold the line against more cuts.
There are many whose very survival depends on support in this area.

This is another example of the "shifting goalposts" that the RW has forced on us.

|
I may disagree with the man on issues but I think DNC chairman would be perfect, he's a good fundraiser, can attack with best of em, so I think that would be a fine position for him and more better than a cabinet post.

8. DNC Chairman is good! But I still think Surgeon General or head of FDA |
|
...and reverse some of the bullsh*t policies that the FDA has done such as trying to stop RU486 and preventing emergency contraception to being available without prescription....

5. Dean's going to head up his grass roots group. They will keep Dems |
|
honest. Look for a big move by Dean in 2008 if Kerry slides too far to the right.

as well as -
ralph nader - attorney general tough on white collar crime
al gore - head of government environmental policy
bat buchanan - in charge of border patrol
actually howard dean would be better as a secretary of health
p.s. what the hell does surgeon general actually do, since there is already a cabinet position for health care ?...

9. Clinton's surgeon general should come back. Or it should be some- |
|
body with a similar set of policy goals for medicine, and who has a background in research, rather than a former GP.

The Surgeon General traditionally has been, and should continue to be, a position held by someone who has not been much involved with politics, but someone who has been nothing more than a doctor for much of their lives.
An above poster is right, Health & Human Services would be better. Or chairman of the party, I'd love to see him make Ed Gillespie wimper and cower like the little punk assclown that he is.

I never thought of this. Dr. Dean would be great as Surgeon General, then maybe he could help the log jam of condom distribution in public schools. HIV is running rampant in public schools because of no access to condoms. If we can't have healthy kids then what point is it to have them learn anything? The first thing they should learn is responsible sex, then treating minorities and gays with respect, the importance of the environment and then the educational stuff like math. Dr. Dean would help to turn these priorites around. No kid should get HIV.
