...if Kerry can break the "no senator elected president since JFK" barrier, Obama should serve out at least a full term in the Senate, and hopefully a re-election by large margins as well. I wish he could run now, I'd vote for him, but a cabinet post would more likely end his career arc rather than launch it.

and would be a credit to the Kerry administration...
We really NEED him in the Senate. We need all of the government back, starting with the Presidency, but the Senate is also within our grasp and we cannot forget that in the excitement... and possibly we can narrow the gap in the House, with a midterm takeover possible... and then a few supremes gone and replaced in the next 8 years, and THEN we can truly begin a progressive left center government reign. But we need him in the Senate right now, and that's a "slam dunk" right now. Not to mention that he will make a fine POTUS candidate in 8 years (or 12 should past patterns repeat).
