Don't reply to this thread (rant)
Don't ask me Polysci questions even though I am am about to finish my major in it.(could go for my masters)

Don't ask me a working class question, even though I have been apart of that class for 12 years which, in a way,got me to college.

Don't ask me what it is like to be the poor because I am/have been for longer than most of you have lived.

For all the sanctimonious BS that goes on here I am daily amazed that there is so little substance to the discussion. We rant among ourselves about sexism, what it is to be a "true progressive/liberal", who you are, who I am. SHIT. If this is what we are then liberals deserve to lose. What a sad state of affairs. We rant and rave about any of topic but I have seen, almost universally, degradation of those you claim you want to help. I, for one, am fucking sick of it! If the poor are not following your views IT IS NOT THEIR FAULT, its our fault. What the fuck have we given them other than derision?

This is what distinguishes us from the speeches we heard at the convention; they claim to want to help.

I hope you happened to notice that this is a discussion board.

In fact, this forum is called General Discussion.

If you want to post a rant and insist that nobody respond, start a blog and post a link here, or better yet, in the Lounge, where vanity posts are encouraged.

I have not seen universal derision of the poor here. I see a bunch of committed Demcrats and progressives(and some disruptors) who, through discussion, try to come to a consensus on what to do about issues that matter to them, including issues surrounding poverty.

If you have a gripe with a post, or several posts, that is your opportunity to put forth your ideas.

The repubs are the ones who throw down a rant and tell people to keep quiet about challenging them. I don't take it from them, and I won't take it from other liberals.

If you've got an argument, make it.

In fact, there is a discussion going on right now about this very topic:

I don't see anyone taking the plight of the poor lightly there.

3. Right on!!
It's useless here to try to bring any understanding of poor folk to awareness, and I have given up. I realize that the days of the DEMs caring about poor people are long gone.

It's very, very sad that most people are going to have to experience it before they "GET IT".

Thanks for ranting......... knowing DU, it won't do any good, but it helps folks like me to hear it from others.
