I IMPLORE YOU - If you are at the convention, PLEASE READ THIS.
Edited on Wed Jul-28-04 03:42 AM by UdoKier
I just listened to O'Liely ask both Ben Affleck and Jerry Brown "What's with all the hate? Where is all this personal hate for the president coming from? What do you think of Whoopi disrespecting the office (!?) of the presidency?" and they both good-naturedly denounced all the vitriol AS THOUGH WE REALLY WERE THE ONLY ONES SPEWING IT.

If you are in a position to talk to one of these scumbag pundits, or know someone who will be, PLEASE make sure they answer thusly:

"Bill, come now. Surely you haven't forgotten how the protesters who pleaded for the President to reconsider his war plans were ridiculed mercilessly by you and all the other pro-war pundits. They were called traitors and fools. Now that they've been proven right you conveniently forget them? You can't have forgotten the right-wing rallies where Dixie Chick CDs were bulldozed, how Natalie Maines was put on posters hugging Saddam Hussein just because she had the nerve to speak her mind, have you? How the august Senator Byrd, after making an eloquent appeal to stop the march to war was called "senile" by the right-wing punditocracy?

The hate didn't start with us, Mr. O'Reilly. It started with right-wing pundits like yourself and the RNC, whose talking point faxes you people follow in unison EVERY DAY. The hate did not start with us sir, but it will stop with us. WE are the ones with the message of hope, and WE are the ones who represent the values of honor, valor and love."

(Or at least say a 10-second sound bite version of that - I'm SICK of this phony meme that somehow WE suddenly got all full of hate for no apparent reason.)

1. The GOP has a real talent for keeping the sheep on point.
Of course when you have the mind of a toilet seat as most of his voters do, it's not too hard to train them.

4. My problem isn't that THEIR sheep are on point...
It's that OURS are. Both Affleck and Brown answered the question on THEIR terms, in a very Colmes-ian way. We need our own talking points out there to counter these kind of nonsense questions. When are we going to get on the ball?

18. "But Bill...
...don't you know the difference between hate and anger?"

"But Bill, where does all YOUR hate come from?"

"Bill, I don't hate anybody. I hate seeing our kids die for a lie."

13. And of course they forget the eight years of hate and hate speech against
Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton. Just ask them to tune into Rush if they really want to know where all the hate comes from.

2. Hate, boredom, and violent protests was the script the RW media wrote for
the convention weeks ago.

That none of that is happening doesn't stop them from trying to talk it into existence.

If anyone wants to post this to a New thread for me it would be much appreciated

Don't mean to Hi-Jack your post, but you did mention O'Reilly, and he is a mian point of the thread I would like to post but can't because I have to reply to a few first. So here goes.

If anyone wants to post this to a New thread for me it would be much appreciated.

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to post and share a song with you all called "Talking Points".

http://www.michaelbishop.com/files/Talking%20Points.mp3

For those of you who "Get It", there are a lot of refrences I think you'll find amusing. I have always believed if

you are passionate about something, you do what you can for that cause. If I were a painter, I would paint; but as

a musican, all I have is my music.

So I put together this tune for all the kindred spirits out there who feel as I do. I think the lyrics will hit

home for a lot of you and I hope I was able to put into this song what a lot of you are thinking. Those of you who

are not kindred spirits can get something out of this as well. If you actually listen to the words and really think

about it, it's hard to deny the turth in it.

I really believe this tune could be beneficial to our efforts, if I could find a way to get it out there. I think

that if the twenty-somethings (like myself) who normally don't vote can get this tune stuck in their head and start

to sing along with it, eventually the words will sink in and they will say, "Wait a minute, maybe I can help to make

a change".

Unfortunately, in this life it's not what you know, it's who you know, and I don't know anyone. So if any of you

are in the music industry, know anyone in the music industry, or, for that matter, know anyone period who you think

may have the power to get this out there, then please forward this on to them. At the very least, spread it around

to your firends and family. I'm releasing the .MP3 free, so I hope as many people as possible can enjoy it.

The is a direct link to the song below. I've also put up a ittle webpage with more info, and a few other

(non-political) songs of mine in case anyone is interested All of this was done in my low-tech, home studio, so
it's not professional; but it's as close as my limited resources will let me get to professional.

Direct Song link http://www.michaelbishop.com/files/Talking%20Points.mp3

I look forward to hearing your comments and thank you for your time.

Talking Points Lyrics:

Don't you know it's time to be free; Won't you lend a hand
Won't you show the world your outrage; Won't you take a stand

I call 'em a racist, cuz they just can't face this,
Everyone seems so blind.
I call em a racist, cuz they just can't face this,
Every child's been left behind.

All our rights are treaded on.
All our rights may soon be gone.
Civil Rights just don't belong,
Treated like some political pawn.

So don't pretend that it is all fine,
Or you may end up on the unemployment line.
While your job gets reassigned,
To some Malaysain kid who's just pushin nine.

I'm a man of many talents,
So let me break it down all "Fair" and "Balanced".
I hope I blow the roof right off this joint,
Cuz I'm bustin' out my "Talking Points".

(chorus)
First they planned and then they lied about the WMDs.
Then they dropped bombs, killed Dads and Moms, and many more Iraqis.
Then they vacationed as the Nation's children went off to war.
How many more of our kids must die for a barrel of oil?
A hundred billion spent to kill them, meanwhile millions are still,
Left here jobless, while they rob all our civil rights at will.
It's time to MOVE ON and improve on the red white and the blue,
I'll keep it "Pithy". Are you with me? These talking points are true! Uh-Oh

It's not too late. It's not too late.

When it's time to judge my soul,
When it's time to pay that toll.
I know that at least,
I was one who stood for peace,
And I know that on that day,
When I finally have my say,
The whole world will hear me,
Cuz I'm gonna shout it!

Gonna tell my mother,
Gonna tell my brtoher,
If we help each other,
we can make a change!

(Chorus)...

I call em a liar, cuz they preach to the choir,
And "Spin" their words like a top.
I call em a liar, cuz they just never tire,
Of spewing their propaganda non-stop.

Everyday it's the same 'ole song,
We're the "Right" and you're the wrong.
But never fear, we will fight on.
We'll keep speaking the truth until you're gone.

In the end one thing is true,
WE'RE the ones "Lookin' Out For You".
I hope I blow the roof right off this joint,
Cuz I'm bustin out my "Talking Points".

6. THIS is absolutely beautiful writing.........SAY THIS:
"The hate didn't start with us, Mr. O'Reilly. It started with right-wing pundits like yourself and the RNC, whose talking point faxes you people follow in unison EVERY DAY. The hate did not start with us sir, but it will stop with us. WE are the ones with the message of hope, and WE are the ones who represent the values of honor, valor and love."

I love it. Sounds like something that should be coming out of Bill Clinton's mouth.

I'm not at the convention, but I WILL remember these words, UdoKier, and repeat them every chance I get.

10. Well, I'm Watching C-Span Coverage....
I have yet to hear any "hate speech." I guess our liberal elite media pundits are either NOT PAYING ATTENTION cause they are too busy talking shit or they are just making it up. Remember, many Americans are not watching the Convention (cause it is not being broadcast until 10) and they are only getting slanted soundbites.
I believe it is time to hold the media accountable. Kerry should REVOKE the broadcast license of any network that can not broadcast fairly. OR...when O'Reilly, Hannity, Colter, et al are ranting, there should be a disclaimer reading "THIS IS THE OPINION OF THE HOST. THIS IS NOT FACT." BEtter yet, add the disclaimer that the opinions expressed are those of the network (or not, depending on the case). Imagine, everytime Coulter starts SLANDERING Democrats, have a scroll making her point know that is HER opinion AND that of CNN (or Faux).

11. I agree. I watched almost the entire thing on CSPAN last night..
and it was extremely positive, uplifting and hopeful. The speakers were clever in the way they got their jabs in at BushCo. But absolutely no one outright bashed him personally.

So Bill O'Shithead can go salute Herr Bush til he dies...LIARS!

17. More than half the people see through this technique
Senator, I simply want you to answer yes or no, Have you stopped beating your wife?
"Well I..."
Yes or no Senator we do not need a long windbag explanation, JUST ANSWER YES OR NO!!!

...........

I know this technique is one step below 'heads I win tails you lose' but people fall for it.

When multi national media correspondents accuse Democrats of crimes actually committed by Republicans it is a similar yet better technique than the repetitious harangue.

2 nights ago on the NBC nightly news a woman reporter used an indignant voice to accuse the Democratic party of being the party of special interests to big corporate money. At the end of her piece she said she was reporting live from the bordello room of the DNC.
When the camera returned to Brocaw he had a smirk of "what the Cheney was that?, but he did not comment.

Realists know that the only difference between the parties, as far as the military industrial complex goes, is whether the MIA is merely full or gorged.

To get people to vote against or voice against their own interests will always demand dirty tricks and lies.

19. Great response UdoKier. I would also remind Mr. O'Reilly
of Newt's infamous list of words to be used to describe Democrats. Ask him if he feels that Newt telling Republicans to use words such as traitors, corrupt, cheat, steal, sick, and pathetic was about "love".

20. What about the WMD charge
O'Really? Didn't you say, if no WMD's were found, you apologize? How do you apologize to over 900 families of dead America soldiers? OOPS?
How do you give back the limbs blow off of healthy Americans who thought they were there to protect your freedom of speech? With no one showing accountability for this (no exit strategy)looks like we'll have more terrorists than before Iraq, and Bush saying he wouldn't change a thing......hate really doesn't fit how America feels. That's your talking point. You want a divided America.
