The same state that Lincoln came from?

A little too ironic. I really do think.

8. Good Grief, leave the semantics at the door!
I am sure you knew exactly what the poster meant. I thought he was born in the US. His dad is from Kenya, mom from US. Slitting hairs really sucks, in my opinion.

9. You might take the time to read more carefully

The original post referred to Lincoln coming from Illinios. Didnt say anything about where Obama came from. (He's running for office in Illinois).

And dont be so sensitive. You're going to get pretty annoyed going around DU with a chip on your shoulder.

BTW, what is slitting hairs ?

14. Read it just fine.
Obama is from Illinois. After his speech last night, we all know where he came "from." Not trying to pick a fight here.
And slitting hairs is when the typist forgets to spell check.

4. The first African-American president WILL be
the (soon to be) junior Senator from Illinois.

6. And he seems really genuine!
It seems like so many black politicians manage to get caught up in political crookedness. Anyway, they sure do here in Kansas City.

But this kid could have gone a million different ways - been another Johnny Cochran or something. Instead he just kept on fighting for the little guy.

He's something.

7. "...so many [black] politicians...get caught up in political crookedness"
True not just with black politicians but with ALL politicians regardless of race. Power corrupts.

I agree with you......Obama is really something.

17. I knew I'd Get Killed with that
But it's a problem here. So many of our minority famous people end up getting in trouble. Usually for making money on the side. And then it makes the paper and it looks really bad.

I'm not trying to be a racist. I just wish that politicians and other people in the limelight would go to greater lengths to keep on the straight and narrow.

If you can't look into the camera on 60 Minutes and say exactly what you did - then don't do it.

10. I agree

He is very, very presidential. I had heard good things about him and watched his speech hoping to see an up and coming Dem who would make a good presidential candidate some day. I got more than I bargained for. By the time he was done speaking, I was wishing he was this year's nominee.

Go Obama!

...Edwards/Obama ticket after a Kerry/Edwards ticket of two terms. Then a Obama/someone else ticket after that.
