Moore to go to Florida...someone please explain
AAR is reporting that Michael Moore is going to Florida for the few weeks LEADING UP TO THE ELECTION to film how the election there will be handled. I am wondering if people of Florida will resent this outside implication that they can't handle their own election process...even Dems might wonder? Can someone explain his rationale on this?

Did anyone see all of MM's interviews last night after the convention...I thought he handled himself very well with Larry King and Ted Koppel.

1. Who gives a shit what the Subjects of the Imperial Province of Florida
think on the topic?

They have a Soviet-style voting system and Soviet-style Tyrants running it.

Who cares WHAT they think? I wish we had MORE monitors in Florida, from the Free World, too, to come and montior the Third-World "election" of Imperial Amerika.

7. Uh...back off sparky
There are those of us who continue to fight the good fight in Florida.
So back off unless you'd like an alligator in your pants :)

On a more serious note--

Moore down here is a good idea-- we need someone to shine that light. Corrine Brown spoke up--and it remains true-- We need the vote verified by the world.

Hell, the Miami Herald just showed that the 2002 Gubenatorial Primary results have been lost due to computer problems... over a thousand votes were known to have been lost-- and when Janet Reno lost to Bill "sacrificial lamb" McBride by less than 6000 votes statewide....

12. Sorry. That didn't come out right. And I am in no measns advocating
giving up for Floridians or ANYONE ELSE.

What I meant to say was that Totalitarian Nations like Imperial Amerika and Provinces of those nations should welcome, as you and both do it seems, MORE monitors, not less.

YES, we DO need the Florida vote and ALL of Imperial Amerika's vote verified by the Free World to which Imperial Amerika no longer belongs.

So we are on the same page here, I think.

Sorry for phrasing it so badly.

AND NEVER GIVE UP WORKING AND STRIVING! NEVER!

2. You know what his next documentary is going to cover?
Edited on Wed Jul-28-04 10:28 AM by RodneyCK2
The health care system... Woo Hoo... It is hush, hush and when asked about his next project, he avoids the question. I found out by going through a Hollywood actors/scripts site. They list projects far in advance.

Go MM!!!

3. I bet the good people of Florida wish they had someone with a camera
and a voice on voting day in 2000! It is obvious to me that Jeb and his jolly incompetents can't handle their own election! More power to Moore! This is a good thing!

21. The people of Florida the day of the 2000 election
were tying up phone lines to every TV station and newspaper and the election supervisors office. Phones started ringing off the hooks shortly after the polls opened. It took about an hour after the polls opened for most folks to get to a phone. I was one of them. It took me two days of calling every few minutes to get through and I spoke to Ms. Lepore herself. I also complained to the attorney generals office. Family members went to protests (I didn't - could not get off work). There were many thousands of angry Floridians that day - we're still here. I can't even believe that Jeb won re-election - legitimately. I believe he just got smarter about hiding the truth.

My quote to my husband upon leaving the polls that day: "just wait until tomorrow, the shit is going to hit the fan." I was actually wrong because when I got home and turned on the news, the shit was already flying.

4. "implication"
Hardly. They can't handle it obviously. Why would anyone ever care if they were doing things the honest and correct way and were without suspicion?

6. Who "resents" counting votes?
I am wondering if people of Florida will resent this outside implication that they can't handle their own election process

The more observation the better. Why should they resent an improvement in the likelihood of their votes getting counted? Personally I resent the way the Jeb Bush administration messed with a national election. Remember Gore won by 4% in exit polls which is why the state was projected for Gore.

23. I certainly would not resent it.
Only Jeb and buddies will resent it. The rest of us want our votes to be counted and recorded.

8. Larry King was as docile as a lamb, with Moore LOL
Edited on Wed Jul-28-04 10:48 AM by rocknation
considering that a just a few weeks ago, he said Mike couldn't come on his show unless he agreed to appear with a rep from the Bush White House. Mike agreed and CNN never called back, claiming that the White House said they weren't interested. Maybe it was CNN who was interested--interested, that is, in setting Mike up. Maye they hoped he would refuse so they could call him a chicken!

9. They have NOT been able to handle it.
Edited on Wed Jul-28-04 10:35 AM by UdoKier
They illegally disenfranchised THOUSANDS of non-felons in 2000, and Bush has tried to do it again this year, making an obvious exception for Florida's repuke-leaning hispanics.

In spite of the fact that touch-screen voting with no paper trail makes a recount impossible, the court rejected Rep. Wexler's suit to force the state to add paper printers.

There has been no end to the problems with Florida's voting, almost ALL of them due to Bush and his Secy of State's insistence on the infallibility of their very vulnerable systems an their deliberate pattern of disenfranchising black voters in the state.

Floridians are so stupid that Sarasotans rewarded the filthy hag Katharine Harris for her crimes and obvious conflicts of interest with a Congressional seat.

Florida canNOT handle their election. They need not only Moore but a UN election supervisory team brought in.

Here's the latest:

16. This is what happens...
When you have games layered on top of games and lies layered on top of lies. The center cannot hold.

Prediction: People will ultimately do time in Fla. They will become societal pariahs.

And a damn good one. They are few and far between in these whorewellian times. Hope he digs up some dirt on Jeb and his brownshirt goons.

Michael Moore is a God!

13. Florida CAN'T handle its own election process
Edited on Wed Jul-28-04 10:47 AM by rocknation
That's why George is in the white house though Gore won the popular vote. Their idea of "handling" seems to be purging anyone from their voting lists who might be a felon (most of whom are black and few of whom are Hispanic). They haven't be able to solve the problem over the past four years, AND they fought like the dickens to prevent their current list from becoming public!

15. Good
A proven camera is bnetter than a thousand lawyers whose statements and observations mean squat if rendered invisible and mute in the national forum. Moore is now recognized as a spotlight. There were quite a few varieties of fraud and fringe cheating going on. Florida 2000 was a classic and uselessly litigated WITHOUT a single news outlet making the obvious observation about fraud changing the obvious result. All the revelations and pictures went for naught because the blather was all GOP spin all the time.

Moore will win votes simply by repressing some of the fraud, especially those mom and pop Repukes who do a little of this and that with the registrations, the funloving police and GOP pollworkers with the odd little machines. And they know that it isn't just Mike and his mike but a lot of other cameras working around the state for him who aren't looking to disguise fraud as a comedy. The serious media already did that farce.
This is a natural and most effective place for the full just and ironic challenge to be met by Moore. And afterward they can clean up the state and not just let bygones be forever corrupt bygones.

20. A friend of mine said in 2000 said, the only way to stop FL-style election
theft is to take video to the polls and keep an eye on those bastards.

And Moore is going to do that.

22. I would hope he does it with
hidden cameras, because unless he can put a camera in every precinct, a visible camera will put them on their toes.

I used to trust voting before 2000 - now I never will again, because I have very personal experience with how it can be rigged.

Great! Someone NEEDS to be filming it! I'm tempted to take my camcorder myself to my polling place (I'm taking a personal day that day and serving as a "citizen observer"--I'm going to vote early!).

Good for MM and good for the people of Florida!
