Hey DU Girls, Do you love Teresa Heinz Kerry as much as I do? |
|
Edited on Wed Jul-28-04 11:51 AM by Melodybe
I didn't know her before last night, I thought she was a hell of a lot better that Pickles, but didn't feel one way or the other about her personally.
Last night changed all that, to hear someone even mention the billions of women that are repressed in 3rd world nations was so moving. To hear her talk about the peace core and the Vietnam Monument, to hear her talk about Apartide, to hear her talk about how far people can go, the moon, Jupiter, made me proud.
Now not only do I have an idea of who the next first lady will be, I have a new hero.
I love her.
So my fellow DU girls, did you feel the way I did?

I was listening to her last night thinking Wow, is she sharp! When I was reading what the repukes were saying about her, I thought, Since when do we dismiss intelligence? What the hell? The repukes have certainly done a number on this country. I want smart people running the country not drugged up idiots like smirky and pickles.
Teresa rocks!

John Kerry that a woman like Teresa would choose him as her husband.

And also, it says a lot for him that he is willing to let her be her own person. I love that.

4. She is an excellent role model |
|
Her speech had so much depth. I don't know that everyone "got it" on the first take. I would like to read it, or at the least hear her deliver the speech again.
I will love having her as the First Lady and I can't wait to see the news she will make.
My question is, how can anyone not love her.

5. "My right to speak my mind, |
|
to have a voice, to be what some have called “opinionated,” is a right I deeply and profoundly cherish. My only hope is that, one day soon, women—who have all earned the right to their opinions—instead of being labeled opinionated, will be called smart or well-informed, just as men are."

She's soft spoken and brainy. And that hair! She's just so great in my book. A first lady to truly admire for her life's story and all the good she does.

I didn't stay up quite late enough to hear her speech last night but I actually clapped out loud in the car on the way in to work this morning when I heard the line about living in a world where women with opinions aren't called opinionated - they're called smart and informed! It just felt like "finally, somebody gets it!"
My SO, who was driving, just smiled. Apparently he's heard this line before... hmmm I can't imagine where? ;)

seeing her boys, i have two little ones, cant wait til they are taller standing on both sides, lol lol. i love the woman,. i love what she says, just not gonna happen, you all dont get to tell me who i am suppose to be, and kerry embracing and giggling in that hienz she is, all fearful of her, yet kerry so not afraid, but loving it. this is a special man that can not be intimidated or resent of a woman like this.
i love her history and universal understanding and feeling this is exactly what the world needs to heal
i love how she uses her energy and touching her heart and using the words, that is a way, spiritual way of being able to talk spirit, saying truth and purity
talking in love
i do, very much, like this woman

I respect in a human being. As a woman I find her all those things but she also exudes a warmth that is enchanting to me. She is tough as nails but also soft and warm. A whole human, one I would like to be more like. If I had daughters I would direct them to pay attention to her.

her, but I do think she will make an excellent role model.
And I think she should give a lot of women politicians voice lessons. She's one of the few who can get up there and not sound like fingernails on chalkboard. I was just telling someone yesterday that maybe it's because we aren't used to hearing woman politicians or something, but the voices are unbearable. Then THK goes up there and it turns out it's not the female voice amplified that needs getting used to, it's that the women need to use their voices differently than men do in order not to sound shrill at the microphone.

and i have not heard fienstein, hillary, mosely, house of rep woman, reno, or albright.....any of them sound shrill.............
so it isnt even a truth but if we say it enough, then regardless women will be. fuck that, grinnin, and i say this in low tone, slow and not nOt hysterical or shrill

20. I was indifferent before I saw her interview with Tweety |
|
on Sunday night. She was WONDERFUL. Very intelligent, articulate, but actually quite soft-spoken in that interview. What a wonderful combination: strong words with a soft voice. It was awe-inspiring and I got to feeling better and better the longer I listened to her. That lady knows her stuff and is seriously classy! Even my republican friends had to admit that!

27. I'm as proud and impressed with her as I am the opposite with Laura |
|
Women who slink around their husband like a dog whose been beaten bother me. Maybe it is more like a lap dog, whose suppose to sit there, be cute and service the master. I love and admire strong women who can stand up for themselves. My hubby knows better then to try to defend me when I'm standing there. He can defend away when I'm not there to do it myself but if I need to defend myself I certainly can. I find it patronizing to have to have a man do it for me.

commenting without reading other posts, bust saw a talking head last night on MSNBC saying she "might" play to some of the younger paralegals out there, but not for the older women. To that I say "BULLSHIT" - she played perfectly to me and many, many other women in my law firm!
