I agree that listening to Rush isn't for everybody--but millions of our fellow citizens do listen to him. And it's good to know what he's saying so we can counter it.

On the other hand his dissection of Teresa Heinz Kerry's speech last night was just awful. It's just an attempt to paint her as an out of touch elitist who thinks the whold campaign is being run for her amusement. Pity that description much more closely describes the current occupent of the White House.

26. Question On Rush

I can't take listening to him, so don't but one of my coworkers does and when I ride with him over the noon hour if we go out to eat, I get to hear him. Listening to him rant and rave sort of ruins the lunch hour though.

Question is where does he find these so called Kerry supporters that call him? Have heard them a couple of times and they always come off as ignorant asses.

Do you think they are for real? Can't imagine any liberal or democrat bothering to call this guy, you are just set up for going no where.

31. Dirty Little Secret...

There's no rule or law that says a caller on a show like Rush's has to be who they are. Since this show is considered "entertainment" this opens the door to allowing what I call "phantom callers" that are set up to make the host look good or just to generate calls when no one else is calling in.

It's a dirty little secret...not quite so secret, and part of the game "talk shows" play...especially now. With digital editing and delays a host can virtually edit a call live as it's happening to cut out certain points or comments he doesn't want listeners to hear (and has 20 seconds to do it).

Several years ago, I busted someone whom we found out was claiming he had certain "authorities" and celebrities as guests. In reality it was some friends of his in Cincinnatti, including several local actors who would appear in several roles...as guest and caller on the same show. The bastard moved on to another market...and pulled the same shit there. He was busted after claiming he was interviewing Dr. Margaret Sanger; the founder of modern birth control. The problem is Ms. Sanger died in 1967. Ooops. Busted again...but he's still on the air and in a major market. I report, you decide
