Boy, the Repugs WANT DISSENTION in the Dem party and convention. |
|
They cannot believe the unity that is being displayed (and I say displayed). Everybody is following the marching orders. THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR US RIGHT NOW... The CNN O'Brien guy... trying to force Beers (the foreign policy advisor for Kerry on, and then had another fat guy contradict him...don't know the name of the fat guy, and don't care...There are so many fat, ugly, sickos coming out of the woodwork.)

Civil rights/slavery took hundreds of years. Women's rights just really happened within the last 100 years.
Things just don't change overnight. Does it suck that that's the case? Absolutely, but that's life, unfortunately. Still, some seem to think that things are going to be completely 100% fair and just, and that it can happen as soon as tomorrow, and it just flat out can't. I doubt we'll EVER get to that point. It's extremely important to work for it, but you have to be a little pragmatic too, know what victory is and the best way to achieve it. You name the civil rights issue today, whether it's gay marriage, abortion, affirmative action, whatever, there's one perfectly clear answer to that question right now, and it's getting Bush out of office. No progressive ideologies will be advanced under Bush, so that MUST be step one at this point. Anything that could possibly assist that cause should be done, and anything that could possibly harm that cause should be avoided. Get past step 1, then move on to step 2.
Edit: Typo

and I'm getting really tired of seeing petty stuff used to encourage the BS claim that there's not much difference between Kerry & Bush.
And this during the ONE WEEK when I wish we could muster just a BIT more unity.

There are zealots in every group and there's no getting rid of them, but I think we've got most non-zealots on board this time around.

9. Amen. We can't say this too often. It's called being pragmatic... |
|
Nobody would behave at their jobs or in their relationships the way they DEMAND that we make our displeasure known. The reason they wouldn't do it is because it would be counterproductive. They would find themselves umemployed and alone. I don't understand why they can't apply the same principles in getting along on the job and in a relationship to obtaining their political goals. Just doesn't make sense.

Imagine if we hadn't been split in 2000, when 51-plus percent of voters voted left of center, if you count Nader/Gore votes together.

11. Marching orders? Achtung! |
|
Gosh, and I thought this was the convention of the Democratic Party. You know, the one where the people have a say, not just the bosses.
BTW DISSENTION should be dissension.

15. I'm also voting for Patty Murray (D) and Brian Baird (D) |
|
I've been a Democrat since 1965 and have voted Democrat in every election save one. In 1968 I voted against the war in Vietnam by voting for the Peace and Freedom Party.
And, what do you care if our convention is being run by the party bosses who try to suppress dissent over some of the party's policies. Dissent is supposed to be a principle of my party.

Some of us want to see a little more "red meat" for those of us pro PEACE, and more attacks against the theocracy that is rising, the visions of PNAC, and the ever encroachment of a global community that essentially enslaves us to our corporate masters.
I want to here it, but I understand we have to be pragmatic. So far, the playbook the Dems are running kicks ass.
Like a poster above said...expect the RNC to be a litany of lunacy. I can't wait.
