for getting "root" or super admin privdeldges on the server. chances are they got to the server it self (Like Apache or IIS) OR they got into the box and managed to deface the files to say that. Its pretty common to do when a web server is hacked.

Hackers, (probably script-kiddies) are pretty much all over the place politically. There are far right nazi hackers, necon hackers, a-political hackers, leftist hackers, and far left looney hackers.

10. well *hacking* isn't an evil thing.

its what you *do* with hacking that defines it as good and bad. I test my systems and friends systems all the time by hacking, then report to them (or my boss) the results of the hacks.

but script-kiddies (who normally does these defacements of sites) and virii writers are indeed scum. nothing more to be said on that.

If used properly. The basic premise being: I hack to gain knowledge, not to destroy.

If the Right-wing takes over, and tries to control the internet. It will be hackers to the rescue.

When the Patriot Act III rolls out, and they want to spy on your every file download, website vist etc. It will be hackers to the rescue.
