Mike backs out of Crawford appearance
http://www.kwtx.com/home/headlines/888892.html

Friends of Peace, the group sponsoring the screening of Fahrenheit 9/11 Wednesday night in Crawford, confirmed late Wednesday morning that filmmaker Michael Moore will not appear at the event.

Michael realized that the distraction of the pro-Bush and anti-Bush people was going to cause a confrontation he would rather not have, said Paul McDaniel of Friends of Peace.

Moore announced Monday that he would be in Crawford to introduce the film and to answer questions after the screening.

He issued a letter to the President Monday inviting Mr. Bush, who is spending most of the week at his Central Texas ranch, to join him for the screening.

Moore's publicist said Wednesday morning she could not confirm whether the filmmaker has changed his plans, but network television sources indicated that Moore had already made up his mind to stay away from the screening. They quoted an associate producer who said Moore will not make the trip to Crawford.

1. If so, what a shame
Moore isn't usually one to back down from a fight. Hell, I'd have been proud to volunteer as a bodyguard for him down in Crawford. I'm 6'2" and weight 285 lbs. Quaker or no, you wouldn't want to go through me.

5. I gotta admit, that's a good point
Michael, I can't tell if you or any of your people (David Schankula, you out there?) read DU, but you know that Texas loves you. Please come back anytime. Just remember, "Texas" is derived from the Caddo word tayshas, which means friends. You've got plenty of friends down here.

7. he can show the movie during the thugs convention....
he took the media to task yesterday during a speech replayed on CSPAN today..better than anyone else I have heard...he shamed them for not asking questions...and doing their jobs...and sending our kids to war for nothing but lies...and some fat cat profits.

10. In my opinion, that was a smart move.
Especially since he's been getting death threats from those f-ing repugs.
