OH MY! C-Span caller just said Dems are evil and Obama & Osama
what's the difference! All the so called preachers on this awful convention soverage are evil and .....she mentioned the Nation of Islam supporting a child molestor.

This lady, from Missouri, just called on the c-span open phones (around 3:40 pm) and first identified herself as a REAL Christian. I've heard a lot of true hate calls at different times when c-span has these open lines, but this one had to be one of the worst. She shounded pretty old, so I hope this is indicative of a past generation that will soon be gone.

I hope this isn't representative of the entire state of Mo. I know, Ashcroft is from there too. Let's hope they are the exceptions.

5. Has the rhetoric always been this bad? I sure don't think so.
Sure I remember the hatred dumped on BC, but most of what I remember was based on Monica and (sorry to say) his stpitidy of getting caught. I'm 60, and I really don't remember true hate like this in the past. There were a lot of people who disliked Kennedy, and Nixon, and Reagan, but this is really getting bad. It doesn't seem to be a few activists either. It's from people who "think" they are decent Americans. What the heck is happening to our country?

4. she was a freak - claimed to never have voted before and said
she didn't even know she was a Republican until 9/11 and seeing this convention. She said the Dems are brainwashing people and intimidating people. . . Said 'Obama is Osama, everyone knows that.'

Said Obama is an ACLU lawyer and just takes peoples' money - money people earn they should be able to keep. . .

She seemed to be miming a conglomeration of so many hate mongering phrases - starting with "I'm a REAL Christian, from Missouri."

After she yapped for a few minutes the moderator asked who she was differentiating herself from, by saying she's a REAL Christian.

I wonder if she condemns all non-real Christians to hell or worse.

Long story short - nothing new under the divisive GOP banner.

6. That lady was funny
in a crazy way. Like Ross Perot.
She ALSO said, re: his being an "ACLU lawyer" that he takes money from people and spends it on "his people." I wonder what she meant by that...

7. How do people get to HATE this bad?
I guess the only reason I even started this post is because I could actually feel the hate in her call. She really belives what she said. It frightens me that people who really believe they are good can be filled with that much hate!

9. Good example of why I don't go to church
When they must preface a comment with "I'm a REAL Christian," the BS is about to begin.

10. Awww, that's not fair. I'm a Christian too, but I believe all people
should be treated like I want to be treated...at least until they do something against ME to do harm. This has nothing to do with "Christian". I'm not sure what it is, but it's very bad.

Hard to believe that the senile ravings of some old bag with an extra chromosome warrant two threads on the first page.

15. some members of Tom Brokejaw's
greatest generation were/are also some of the meanest, most racist snakes on earth.

My father's accounts of experiences with them as a black soldier during WWII, are truly sad. Dad's also originally from Missouri ... That caller perhaps is the living embodiment, hopefully last vestige, of the kind of hate his family fled.

17. What I heard in Obama's speech were many of the same
messages that Christ himself preached: helping the elderly, the sick, the disabled, caring for our children, and reaching out to those who suffer around the world. Makes you wonder what she thinks a "real" Christian believes in, doesn't it?
