Is Wyclef Jean the first to mention stopping the war at this convention?
And is someone backstage going absolutely bonkers over it?

3. Pretty much, yes
Oh, there's been call to not send troops out for wars of lies...but this has been the first actual call to end the war.

7. It's not like the campaign didn't know what he was going to sing
after all he changed the words from the original, and there's no way they brought him there to sing 'assasinated on Saturday, buried on Sunday'

10. Its not a war, its an occupation.
And right now the Bush lie that he wants to stablize in short order and then pull out sounds pretty reasonable to Americans. Its hard to accuse someoene of lying about thier plans, since you get into an argument about the future. So Kerry doesnt have much of a choice but to go along with that policy statement. Stabalizing and getting out SOUNDS like the best idea. We know its wrong, but calling for an immediate pull out would be politically stupid.

Thats the unfrotunate fact of the situation.

12. Well, its a type of war, wyclef can simplify in ways Kerry cant
I think the only solution is a pullout, but I understand that it is a rhetorically impossible position for Kerry.

13. Songwriting is not easy, but it may be easier than being President
And I would like to remind everyone, being President gives someone a lot more freedom of action that being a Presidential candidate.
