I worked a long 12 hour day and wasn't able to see any coverage of his entrance into Boston. Did the media pundits ridicule him? Do you think this was a good idea?

1. Locally in Boston and
On the cable shows, it received a fair amount of play. Kerry was very gracious to his colleagues.

The pundits did keep speculating why the crowd was so big, and someone said it was spontaneous.

3. One tag line I heard

was "One if by land and two if by sea"... so I guess that they
were trying to compare Kerry to the British of the Revolutionary
War. Or something.

4. I just saw the boat coming into the landing

For about 10 minutes all you could see was the three boats slowly coming into Boston. There was no audio feed.

Then some Rethug reporter said that they were " a few hundred people waiting to meet the boat."

I never saw the crowd. Was it just a "few" hundred people or was it a decent crowd?

5. Nice piece on NPR
with the fellow shipmates telling about Viet Nam, joking around. Kerry showed them the sites around the harbor. When they saw The Constitution, the oldest commissioned ship in the Navy, they got quiet and choked up a bit...the fellow asked Kerry if he'd ever thought he'd be where he is, and Kerry said no. This was the guy whose life was saved by Kerry, btw.
