It is diction and delivery. Sharpton is a black preacher. His African-American heritage is obvious in his speech. I think it is beautiful (cadence, timbre, quality, and message). MSRNC does not.

Obama does not in the least "sound black". I wasn't going to go there, 'cause my asbestos suit is still at the cleaners' :-), but there it is: rightly or wrongly, that's a big part of his "crossover" appeal.

Hell, Barack doesn't even sound like a Hawai'i boy (ever hear Dan Inouye?) He's a product of Punahou School, in bygone years a sort of Triple-A farm team for Yale (who must be kicking themselves for letting him escape to Harvard!). He is what he is. So, too, is Al.

That being said, why should Al have to change his spots to fit some candy-ass cable network's idea of what a convention speaker "should be"? Al's persona has served him pretty well up to this point. In fact, if a rival cable network were to offer him his own show, BSNBC would quickly be reduced to running infomercials for that "natural botox" crap.
