Sharpton puts pundit panties in wad! |
|
Edited on Wed Jul-28-04 08:08 PM by Flubadubya
Watching CNN... every one of the CNN talking heads is about to explode! Jeff Greenfield just called the speech "incindiary" and said it was the most "tough talk" he had heard at the convention. I swear he started to say "over the top" but caught himself.
Crowley blatantly accused Al of being "off message", and Judy Woof-Woof and Herr Blitzer were just fuming.
This is the most fun I've had since I started watching this. Oh, and they had Torie Clark on to put in her 2 cents! She spoke of "cheap shots" and "sniping". I'm so glad they're pissed... it just tickles the crap out me!

5. Greefield...Al's remark was incindiary.... |
|
Not so. Al's remark about Bush appointing the Supreme Court in 1954 was right on. Since Bush sent lawyers to fight the Mich. Affirmative Action Program, it's logical to assume that Bush would have appointed Justices against Affirmative Action...thus Clarence might not have gotten into law school. It's a lobical conclusion for me.

See how they nitpick and criticize character to try to take away attention from his message. This is typical right wing strategy, where they take something small and make something big about it so that itd take away attention at the larger and much more positive part (they did it with Clinton, they did it with the Bush whistleblowers, they did it with Gore, and they are doing it now)

typical, predictable, and usually infuriating but, somehow tonight, Al made it hilarious. Watching him smackdown crowley after the speech, repeating that he had spoken with the kerry team before giving his speech, was incredibly satisfying.

What is it about these media people? It's like their trying to protect "The King".
Wouldn't it have been nice if they had taken that attitude about the presidency when Clinton was in? Naw... only Rethugs get the "protection".

Make no mistake about the media--they have their orders from on high. Every once in a while they show signs of rebellion but then they fall back in line.
Think they get an anonymous email that says "remember the anthrax"?

They deserve it, those talking heads are being such @ssholes in trying to dilute the effect of the DNC and the message that its giving out. I believe they are clearly using Republican talking points and sneaking them in in many corners to deliver them (heck, Dan Rather and Tom Brokaw have sounded like Republicans in the past few days....)

I am almost *positive* I saw an AP article saying that's something Edwards is planning to say tonight.
I just got home, didn't see Sharpton (will definitely catch the re-run)... And I'll look for that article.

The vice presidential candidate was to accuse Republicans of trying to take "this campaign for the highest office in the land down to the lowest possible road," and urge the rejection of "the tired, old, hateful, negative politics of the past."Gergen stole that line. (Will they say Edwards stole the line from Gergen, who said it first?) Talk about a low road. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&e=1&u=/ap/20040729/ap_on_el_pr/cvn_convention_rdp
