Help me with this comeback.
One of the Repukes I work with responds to the missing service records of Bush by saying, well Clinton didn't serve and it didn't matter then, even John Kerry said so. Why does it matter all of a sudden?

I feel like using their argument for all kinds of crazy stunts they have been able to get away with since 9/11 by saying: This is the post 9/11 world, things have changed.

Is that weak? I can't really think on my feet that well.

Thanks for your help.

3. A couple of good choices.
First and foremost...Clinton isn't running for office. It's irrelevant.

Second...give them a quote from Clinton's speech Monday night. He put that to bed without any trouble.

6. Clinton never lied about his miltary service...
And he never used military service as a qualitifcation. Bush did. And if Bush really did what he said, then just pony up the records for all to see. That's it.

Clinton never cut military pay or aid to families, either.

7. Just look this person in the eye, lower your voice a bit,
and then preface your remark with "Please don't take this personally but you can eat shit and die!"

8. How about the argument...
...that military service doesn't matter, but Republicans have always at least implied that it does. And now our candidate is a decorated war hero and theirs was AWOL from the Natl Guard.

10. Clinton felt the Vietnam war was wrong...
And he protested what he felt was wrong. Shrub was for the Vietnam war but got his daddy to get him out of service and then went AWOL...

I use this one all the time:
It's from "Patton:"

"Hell, I know Bill Clinton dodged the draft, used drugs and cheated on his wife. He admits it. The thing I can't stand about W is he won't admit it."

11. Bush received a million dollars worth of pilot's training, then
suddenly didn't show up for a medical exam, and never flew again.

He wasted a million taxpayer dollars.

13. Clinton's lack of duty was a big issue during his first election.
The repubs were complaining all over the place about it. It was the 60's. Some got drafted and some didn't. Bush cheated then, and he's still at it. You would think the worst thing to do would be to go AWOL. Can you imagine what they would say if it was Clinton?

14. Give Chimps words back to him.
It's a different world since September 11th. We no longer have the luxury of electing men with no military background. We're at war and we need a man who has experienced the horrors of war to understand what he is committing our soldiers to and the price our country must pay. It's no time for amateurs.

Clinton did not go strutting around an aircraft carrier like a fighter jock. And he did not out right state that he served in the military. * did. The repukes have tried to run down men who have served and been in the middle of a hell hole war, by saying it is no big deal they served too. BULLSHIT!!! They were safe in America in the NG. And if NG units had been activated then they would all be searching for a way out or calling daddy to get them out.

Throw that in his face.

The same rules don't apply.

As the bush regime repeatedly remind us, whenever we question them.

21. It's Hard On Military Morale
Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 08:11 AM by GiovanniC
To have a commander-in-chief who neglected his duties while he was in the service, sending them off to war to die.

It's much easier on morale to be sent into battle by someone who knows what it means to serve and knows the risks and responsibilities involved in putting men in harm's way.
