Democratic leaders cannot or will not say it but it must be said....
George W Bush has put our nation into a very vulnerable situation and our country has never been in such a weak state as we are now. Our leaders cannot say it because they do not wish for our foes to know just how weak we are as a nation. But it is a reality we must face.

Our troops are thin in ranks. They are being decimated by the war in Iraq. Many have returned to the war 2 and 3 times because we do not have the troops to take care of a mission which was so ill-prepared. It has weakened us immensely. Our nation is not as well-protected here at home as it should be because our our interests have been placed halfway around the world into a war which did not have to happen. Wars are not trivial matters and there are almost always unforeseen consequences and we are now seeing those consequences.

To pretend, as the Republicans do, that Mr Bush is a strong leader and is the best person to protect our nation in this real time of crisis, is only making our country that much weaker. The truth is sometimes a bitter pill to swallow. However, it is a pill the Republicans must swallow. Our nation cannot survive their out-of-touch and fairytale rhetoric any longer.

1. dunno
I think I would leave the fear-mongering to the repugs. If you can find some way to spin this into a positive, maybe then, but let's just get the WH and let the country marvel at how much better things get.

4. Disagree....
... they are running on a platform of "war on terror" and they are failing miserably. It's the truth, and there is no way I can think of to put a positive spin on it. Why should we refrain from pointing out the obvious failures of this administration? We should not refrain.

8. Yes, we should NOT refrain. However so many seem to wish
to repeat the timidty of 1980, 1988, and 2000.

Sad.

5. Iraq (& shrub) are to the US what
Afghanistan and the cold war were to the USSR. Hopefully, we get Kerry (PNAC-free) and correct it or the US of a is toast!

Our nation cannot survive their out-of-touch and fairytale rhetoric any lo
They are in denial.... they cannot admit that invading Iraq was the ultimate dumb idea.... a misstep... a ridiculous approach to curbing a movement that has its roots in our past military involvements in Muslim lands... what a mistake.

Soooo what does one do for someone who is in denial? I dunno, but I wish someone would find a way to show them how misguided they were and are for supporting these ideologues... because they are taking us where they are headed. Perhaps I should forward this to the WH.

6. it's got nothing to do with "our foes...."
"Our leaders cannot say it because they do not wish for our foes to know just how weak we are...."

Our leaders cannot say it because we're all happy smiling positive people. Be happy! :puke:

Me, I'm impatient.

9. Who has said he is a strong leader?
This is a very tricky argument to make because people reflexively rally 'round the leader when troops are in harm's way. I think the tone has been correct. They are saying that Bush is fighting a necessary war on terror in the wrong fashion. And got us into a difficult situation in Iraq with bad information. But you can't go before the American people and say, "Situation hopeless!!"
