Poll question: Rate this convention - overall, so far |
|
Edited on Wed Jul-28-04 08:57 PM by nu_duer
Personally, I think it is excellent overall.
The testimony from people who know John Kerry, the music, the "Republican voting for Kerry" thing - which there seem to be more of tonight, maybe giving the impression there is a movement within the Republican party to vote Kerry. The coordination with the Kerry sweep up and down the east coast, which grabbed headlines of its own, as people see the man that everybody's talking about - very effective and imaginative. And smart. Even the podium is genius.

8. Other: I rate it a YGH291 |
|
Rating it otherwise would be ridiculous.

I was leaning YGH292, but you're clearly correct.

Monday was fired up with Gore, Carter, and Clinton, but then it kind of died down.
Al Sharpton was great though, and I can't wait to see Edwards tonight.

I thought Clinton, Carter, Obama, and the Reverand who served with Kerry were utterly fantastic. They all get A+.
The look of the convention is superb (the graphics, transitions, etc). A+
The 9/11 tribute was very well done. A
Kennedy was all right, but his convention speeches started running together in '92 or so. B.
Hillary always gives the same boring speech. B-
I wasn't terribly impressed with Theresa's speech. B-
Tonight feels unfocussed so far, but Edwards can pull it out. B- with the possiblity of A-.

I want Edwards out there...soon......I do not want the idiotic networks to cut off his speech mid stream because it is 11 o'clock.

I give it an A+.
Unfortunately, I haven't seen anything about specific policy. I've heard that's the only thing that swing voters are weary about with Kerry- he has no concrete plans, or has failed to display them.
Now, I'm 19 years old, the last convention I was only 15 and didn't really give a shit about politics, so I don't know if arguing numbers and policy is what you're supposed to do at a convention (it seems more of an impassioned call to the base). I guess all the specific policy comes with the presidential debates. If I remember correctly, thats where you unveil all your statistics and policy plans and whatnot.
Its a shame the major networks are butchering it down to almost nothing.

17. I've been following the DNCs since 1980, and I gotta say... |
|
...this is the best one I've ever seen! Yeah, 1992 was very good, but 2004 is even better!
Great job, Dems! :kick::kick::kick::kick::kick::kick::kick::kick::kick::kick::kick::kick::kick::kick::kick::kick::kick::kick::kick::kick::kick::kick::kick::kick::kick::kick::kick::kick::kick::kick:
