I let my Boss have it today...and it might have worked!! |
|
Day after Day he has limbotomy then insanity on the radio in the room we work in. I just use my walkman and drown it out.
Today my batteries went dead and I forgot to bring others in. It was the middle of rushfromoxys show and I didnt wanna listen. I was keeping my cool till he started talking some sh@t about Theresa and I just kinda went off.
I told him that it wasn't right that I had to spend my $$$ to buy batteries to block out his RW BS and that I was the one working and not him!!!(Another just quit so I am safe from a firing at the moment...LOL).
I asked him if he really believed all that crap and why he listened everyday to it. He said it was just what had been on and didn't realize it bothered me. I talked him into turning on AAR on his computer and I think he had it on in his office the rest of the day.
I don't know if I changed anyone but I feel better now.

But It would be nice to be able to flat out confront my boss and others. When I find that other job I will tell em all they are Cheneys.

13. Well, it won't help much. |

Getting a better job is the best revenge. Not only that, but you will be surprised at how much more work you will get done for half the stress. Yup, I've been there. "I feel your pain!" :-)

9. What sickens me about this story |
|
...is how it testifies to the fact that this right wing sludge is just "normal" to most people. Not even thinking about it. It's just "what's on" like beef is "what's for dinner."
Homer Simpson really is the implied audience for 99% of American culture. That really is the construct they've got in mind, and the one they're doing their best to create.
The evolution of American consciousness: from "We the People" to "D'oh!"

with Rush on the radio, and I've been known to ask them to turn off the radio.
And they've done it.

And I can't wear headphones cause I have to be able to hear things that are said around me and to me.
My eyes are open and my mouth will be when something else comes through!!!

14. Boss needs to wake up |
|
You need to call in your shop boss on this one. I think that they cannot push political BS at you at work. These guys think that because they give you a couple bucks a hour that they OWN you. What does he think? That he is gonna program you? How do these republicans get some dumb and so rich at the same time. I think you should play Air America at full blast. Drown out all other conversation. This sounds like a hostile work environment, and you have rights and a worker. Power to the People! Union till the day I die!

17. The other thing you can point out |
|
is that it's not possible to concentrate and do your work properly with the radio on all the time. You might be able to avoid discussing the content aspect, and just deal with the distraction aspect.
Lots of workplaces do not allow radios to be played on any station whatsoever if anyone at all finds it a distraction. Or at the very least, any radio should be on softly enough so that it doesn't carry across the room.
