1. not for the ultra-sensitive!
As a bizarro thread earlier today illustrated; folks all bent out of shape b/c Jon didn't suspend comedy for convention week and sing Dem praises ad nauseum. Personally, I think last night's show was hilarious and expect the same all week!

2. Jon is fair. If you think he is attacking the Democrats...
it is because we are dominating the media at the moment. His show is a spoof on current political news. Just wait until the Repubs convention, then you will see him shine.

5. Hey, I'm with you!
I hope you were replying to "you" in a general sense, and that I personally didn't come across as offended by Jon or TDS. I think he's awesome, and haven't felt anything said this week was in any way an "attack"!

3. What he said that was offensive was that he made fun of
Kerry's supporters talking about his service in Vietnam. That was uncalled for.
He said " You know what I think they should do? Bring up Vietnam. They have not talked about it enough" and then he added a lot more stuff which made fun of him.
Also last night's show was not funny, and tonights' doesn't seem funny either so far. Very immature antics by the correspondents.
And yes, I am continuing to watch

9. Hard to make fun of something so important and so true.
Watching this convention, i realize just how monumentally important this year's election is and how much is riding on it, and the Dem party's shoulders. The tone is one of hope and unity. How do you make fun of that? The funny stuff are the attacks launched on Bush and his Repug, because they are true.

"Cheney needs a LOOOONG time out"

Thats funny!

8. I think you are right
but there were a few that seemed to agree. I didn't mean to start this up again! Yikes.

4. That HAS been the campaign.
Am I missing something?

It follows his highly successful "I'm not Kucinich, Dean, Sharpton or Braun" primary magic.

12. Daily Show coverage of Day One - Mix of Repug and Naderite Talking Points
Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 07:45 AM by emulatorloo
Sorry, it is what it is. . .Funny maybe, but Repug Nader Talking Points just the same.
Can't they do better?

I found the smackdown of Clinton's speech the worst, i.e., Clinton attacks Repugs for being the same as Clinton. Equate Bush Foriegn Policy with Monica Affair (Clinton says Wisdom and Strenght not opposing Values, Jon is smirky ho ho voice - Yeah, not like Power and Self-Control) Diminish Kerry Vietnam Service.

you can watch it here:

http://www.comedycentral.com/tv_shows/thedailyshowwithjonstewart/

Click on "watch" by this text:
The Daily Show Headline
"The Kerry/Edwards plan for America's future kicked off in Boston lacking only Kerry, Edwards or a plan for America's future."

Even that sounds like it came from Bush "Truth Squad"

Yes I know Jon Stewart is a comedian and it is satire etc etc.

I am a Big Fan, but Surely they can do Better than repeating this stuff.
