Bush campaign criticizing Edwards' speech....
"Bush's re-election campaign lost no time in criticizing Edwards.

"We saw John Kerry's running mate tonight portray America as a nation in decline, but the American people know we are strong and overcoming the challenges of the past three years," said spokesman Steve Schmidt. "John Kerry's extreme makeover of adding a smile to his pessimistic rhetoric cannot change his out of the mainstream record."

4. Ostriches!
They have their heads in the sand (or somewhere else) if they can't see that despite the "booming" economy there are Americans struggling.

I would like George W. Bush to try and balance a household budget on $6 an hour (a little above minimum wage) only this time he doesn't have an unlimited line of credit. Not even for real, just as an exercise to see if he could do it.

2. Yep, the American people are overcoming the challenges of the past...
...three years by voting Bush out of office and thinning out the ranks of the reThugs so that real government not a shadow government can take back control.

3. Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld...
Edited on Wed Jul-28-04 11:39 PM by w13rd0
...the three "hear, see, speak no evil" monkeys...friggin morons.

I notice they are now resorting to trying to fit all their stupid little talking points into each and every sentence they puke forth. And this "extreme makeover" bullshit, coming from BUSH, the "peace president" (that invades countries based on lies and calls himself a 'war president' on alternating tuesdays), absolutely laughable.

22. Yes...
Yes, they're trying to squeeze in every talking point.

I saw that, too.

Good observation.

5. I doubt they even watched it, they are just staying on message.
I think this is good for us though. We should hammer Bush for being in denial.

We are a great nation, but we have problems, how can a man who refuses to see them fix them?

Edwards was RIGHT ON tonight. He spoke to Americans.

11. They don't have anything else to say.
The Republicans are shit out of luck. They've got a moran in the White House, a vampire for a VP, a war criminal running the defense department (badly), a secretary of state who looks like he wants to barf every time he's around any of them, and a perjuring religious nut-job ideologue running the department of justice.

They've got record deficits, record tax cuts for the top 1%, a war on two fronts overseas that we are losing, a well-financed network of terrorists aiming right at us, and nothing left to say.

13. They CAUSED the challenges dammit!!!
The recession ended in November 2001. What the hell has the problem been since then? Why's it taking so long to get our economy moving again? Same reason it took so long in the eighties??? Why'd they attack a country without full intelligence on whether WMD actually existed? Why didn't they take the advice of their generals and do the job right? Why are they still not doing the job right? Why haven't they implemented the security measures that have been known for some time and wait until the 9/11 report? A report they didn't even want to commission. Why are they rolling back over 400 environmental protection laws? Why are they damaging our right to overtime? Why won't they negotiate for fair prescription drug prices? We ARE a nation in decline and George Bush's Administration caused every problem we face today.

15. "Extreme Makeover"???
Yep, the new $10 word, courtesy of the Bush Misadministration.

Where do they come up with these stupid phrases? Do they really think this is going to sway voters?

The GOP obviously hates America. They treat us like we're stupid.

17. Well, what CAN they say? That Edwards hit a homerun? This is the
game. Anyone who watches Fox for news is stupid. Anyone with half a brain would know beforehand what they are going to say about a Democrat. It wouldn't matter what Edwards said or didn't say. Their pundit speech was probably written beforehand, then later tweaked to add a couple of specifics.

23. "overcoming the challenges of the past three years"????
Wow.. can you believe that the Bush camp is actually ADMITTING how badly they fucked up our country in the past three years? First step is admitting the problem, George!

That prick... after Edwards made a giant point of mentioning their politics of hate and destruction.. their War Room couldn't stop. Spokesman Steve Schmidt? Yeah.. like I TOTALLY believe Bush stayed awake long enuff to watch Edwards speech and comment.. or that Bush didn't throw a coffee table through the tv on the ranch when Edwards got that eternal standing O.

Worried much?

Couldn't they find anyone important to respond? Earth to GOP: the kids
are driving the car!

Bush throwing coffee tables? In his medicated state he would probably
drop it on his foot! :)

25. I just wish they'd keep going to Ohio
and telling people they're not out of work, like they WERE doing!

We had that state.

(last I looked its barely in the Bush column again...)

We should take Ohio.

We take Ohio, we win.

Just my opinion, as a guy who doesn't necessarily know all that much, but was smart enough to marry a smart and beautiful woman, even though I'm not rich.

Strong and overcoming challenges...:puke:

It doesn't surprise me, actually, that the "they" can't stand to see in Edwards' face, optimism, and hope; or a smile that erases the cynicism and snarling of the last 3+ years.

31. White House lies so easily...the media thinks it's cute
"The White House abruptly switched its tune on the Democratic convention, with Duffy saying Bush has been "monitoring closely" and has "watched some of it from time to time" on television. An aide had said earlier in the week that Bush didn't watch on Monday and had no plans to do so on Tuesday."
