2. Every two years, 1/3 of the Senate is up for re-election

that's my understanding.

12. they can't be staggered
they're only up for a election every two years. Gives the people a chance to fire those who are most representitive of them and replace them. Hopefully we'll get rid of a lot of repukes this time.

13. He has decided not to run
He is either going to end his years of elected public service and either retire or serve in the Kerry Admin.

Republican Lisa Murkowski of Alaska will be a GONNER soon..

I live in Anchorage and I can GUARANTEE you that Murkowski (who was appointed to fill the senate seat by her dad when retired & became Governor WILL NOT be elected!) Her father's current approval rating is worse than Gray Davis had when he was recalled..

Aside from having an extremely unpopular dad, Alaskans are pissed that they weren't able to vote and have been calling her the nepotism senator ever since..

Democrat Tony Knowles, two-term mayor of Anchorage and two-term Governor of Alaska will win BIG TIME.. :) He's very popular with Alaskans and has been ahead in the polls consistently for the past 9 months.. He should win easily!! Chalk up another one in the Dem column ;)
