Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 01:17 AM by gauguin57
OK ... now I'm just being damned shallow. But did you SEE those white boys trying to cut a rug during Black Eyed Peas? Aiiiieeeeeeeeee!

Come ON! Don't try to bring the groove if you ain't got the vibe. Seriously ... they looked very button-downed white and dorky.

They're handsome, they've got a great mom ... but they can't dance. So let's just make that a new rule for the rest of the convention, shall we? NO MORE DANCING!

They reminded me of Al Gore dancing with Tipper at the 1993 inaugural. Or Al Gore doing the macarena at the convention. It's a crime against humanity. Just STOP!

2. I guess it was all the others doing the macarena ...
... actually, I think it was the 1996 convention, no? I seem to remember watching Donna Shalala and other Clinton cabinet members doing the macarena. It was very frightening.

MY EYES! MY EYES!

...politicians were dancing to it.

REPUBLICAN politicians, at that.

Talk about something being old before it began...

3. I loved seeing them dance

I appreciated them enjoying the music.
I'm sure that teens liked seeing them dance.
I would have been offended if they acted like the resented the Peas.
I think they are the coolest !

Question: Is it my eyes failing me or does it seem that one of the Heinz guys is always sitting close or standing next to the blond Kerry daughter? They would make a darling couple.:loveya:

That would be sort of disturbing, in a way. How long have they been step-siblings?

19. As long as they're not close blood relatives, who cares?....
Different mothers and fathers for both individuals disqualifies them from the "Raised Eyebrow Effect".

In fact, one set of my great-grandfathers and great-grandmothers met and married under the exact same circumstances. Different set of parents for each individual, but they became step-brother and -sister when the father of one married the mother of the other.

to all white men over the age of 35 dancing at the convention. It's painful to watch. For Christ's sake, at least try to clap in time.

9. There Should be MORE DANCING at the Convention, Not Less!
Politicians never dance. That is a big problem, really.
Particularly in the rarified atmosphere of the halls of gopvernment,
it can lead to precisely the lack of connectedness to other
human beings that we see so much in our politicians.

The fact that politicians don't dance also causes them to pass
obscenities like the "RAVE Act" without even the formality of a
debate or a vote despite tens of thousands of letters, faxes,
and phone calls in opposition to it. Because dancers are completely
unrepresented on Capitol Hill, they regarded our input as merely
a nuisance to be worked around in the dead of night in the conference
committee, where they attached that abomination to the Amber alert
bill, so there was no way it could possibly be defeated.
:grr:

If they do dance, or at least their kids, do, or anyone else for that
matter, don't diss their dancing just because they aren't that good at
it, they just need a bit more practice. Get them to a few good raves
and they'll get it.

14. Racist Bullshit
Period. If they were black would you say that? Are you saying that white people can't dance? Or are you saying that black people are good dancers? Think about it? If you're making a joke, think about it this way: if you had brought the target of the joke's race into it and they happened to be black instead of white would you expect to be flamed by your fellow DU'ers?

Try to make a JOKE on this board.

I know things are dire out there, but let yourselves laugh a little bit.

Yes. Definitely. I am advocating a Constitutional Amendment that prohibits the Heinz boys from enjoying themselves. Yes, of COURSE that's what I'm saying.

Yes. Definitely. I posted this to make a racist statement. I am saying, definitively, that black people can dance and white people cannot. Yes, of COURSE that's what I'm saying.

Your clue here was "crime against humanity."

LIGHTEN UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP! If Billy Crystal or any of the other thousand comedians who do the "white men can't dance" JOKE (joke ... hear that? JOKE) you'd be on the floor laughing.

Pardon me for LIVING.

That is all.

36. You know what...
More men would get out and dance if they didn't feel like they would be ridiculed. For some dancing is effortless, for many others it takes practice. It take physical confidence. And if people would stop worrying about how other people looked when dancing, more people would dance.

White boys can't dance. WTF? Yeah, if we keep saying that, white boys won't ever try and thus it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Whenever I see someone moving awkwardly on a dancefloor I give them respect. Far better to be out there enjoying oneself even if they aren't the best dancer on the floor than sitting on the sidelines.
