700 club what is this bullshit???? open season for "librul" bashing
I have never seen this show before but the 8 seconds it was on my tv was pure bullshit.

During the school year, I am in class and usually I sleep in in the summer, I just happened to cruise through the channels and caught a brief moment.

what complete and utter bullshit

1. Oh Pat...
You've never seen the 700 Club? Keep watching for what a taste of delusional Christian Reconstruction looks like:

"Feminism encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians."

--Pat Robertson

8. Kill their children?
The last few ladies I've heard of killing their kids on the news have been WITHOUT EXCEPTION, fundamentalist Christian wackos.

2. HA HA! It is also open season for Bush bashing. That doesn't mean
the democrats think it is the right thing to do. Isn't it ironic that a christian broadcast group is encouraging division, bashing, and hate?

10. Shhh...that's not what the memo says...
ya know...to get that real good Chrisitian redemption and lovin', you have to be destroyed first.

In the Robertson 50's time-warp, things would be better if all women were at home in the kitchen...of course, except when they're needed as cheap labor for a corporation. Minorities would be far happier if they became "just like us"...forgo their heritage and be greatful for the chance to cut Pat's lawn and do his laundry.

The entire Christian broadcasting world is one that really needs to be cracked open. It's using public airwaves to spread a one-way message with no rebuttal...preaching seperation, exclusion and intolerance...and then you're shook down for a "contribution". This is no longer just a nuisance, we're paying for how damaging and dangerous this hidden media is.

19. Apparently my step-brother and my step-sister are more fundie then I
thought. My mother is the democratic precint committee woman for her district and she and my step-dad are life long democrats. Well my step-sisters husband and my step-brother keep sending my mother emails that tell her if she doesn't vote "right" she won't be able to pray in good concious anymore. Emails about liberal commies and how they are determined to destroy religious freedoms. She has kept quiet out of respect but she called me last night and said she won't be silent anymore. She and my step dad talked about it and they intend to let them know that they don't appreciate those emails and they had better learn how to distinguish truth from fiction. They are hot under the collar to say the least!

23. It's Getting Nasty Out There And Worse
Our triumphs here are turning most of my wife's sister's in-laws...long-time suburban Repugnicans. It started with my brother-in-law...he now drives with a "Bush Lies" bumper sticker and most of his family, including his father who never has voted for a Democrat, have been turning in recent months and either will vote for Kerry or not vote for Bunnypants but for other Repugnicans. We're still working...LOL.

The other is my daughter's boyfriend's family. I call them "conflicted" sorta-fundies. Not them as much as their families. They are conservatives to a point of inconvenience, and it looks like that point's been reached. Also having three children in draft age range kinda gets one's attention as well, and my daughter's boyfriend is not afraid to tell anyone and everyone how if Bunnypants is re-selected, they're all going to Iraq. LOL.

I'm lucky as my family has been life-long Democrats and the only time you ever hear debates is during the primaries.

day! It is easier to change a practical right winger then it is a religious one.

Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 09:51 AM by skypilot
...and it seemed to me that the host/talking head was just reading headlines from the papers and claiming that that days event was proof of Biblical prophecy coming true. Then he starts throwing around all these chapter and verse numbers in rapid succession. It was utter gibberish. He sounded as though he was reading New York Stock Exchange numbers out loud--except those numbers probably would have made more sense.

13. In an interview of Pat Robertson a few weeks ago
he actually felt we didn't need to go to War with Iraq. Of course he covered up these provocative words by fully giving his faith to Bush. Even the truly committed question the war.

16. Here's a good list of rather interesting quotes from Pat Robertson....
...who is a religious extremist, IMHO:

<http://www.gainesvillehumanists.org/patr.htm>

Excerpts:

"You say you're supposed to be nice to the Episcopalians and the Presbyterians and the Methodists and this, that, and the other thing. Nonsense, I don't have to be nice to the spirit of the Antichrist. I can love the people who hold false opinions but I don't have to be nice to them."
--The 700 Club, January 14, 1991

"The strategy against the American radical left should be the same as General Douglas MacArthur employed against the Japanese in the Pacific... bypass their strongholds, then surround them, isolate them bombard them, then blast the individuals out of their power bunkers with hand-to-hand combat. The battle for Iwo Jima was not pleasant, but our troops won it. The battle to regain the soul of America won't be pleasant either, but we will win it."
--"Pat Robertson's Perspective," April-May 1992

" want to come into churches and disrupt church services and throw blood all around and try to give people AIDS and spit in the face of ministers."
--The 700 Club, January 18, 1995

"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians."
--Fundraising letter, 1992

The few times I went to a church as a kid it was a Methodist church. What's his problem with them? Not enough fire and brimstone?

He's propping up ruthless dictators in Africa to protect his mining interests:

http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/7027/dictator.html

Simply put: Pat Robertson is scum of the worst kind, exploiting religion as a means for profit.

Oh, and when people with a few million less dollars and no TV network to speak of claim that God tells them of impending disasters and the like, they're referred to as schizophrenics, not prophets.

Saw a couple of minutes of it -
And I couldn't believe they were so blatant in bashing Kerry.

This man, who has built an empire on the word of a man who preached peace and love and tolerance - whoring himself and his mindless sheep for a lying, unworthy, murdering scumbag like bush - its offensive on many levels. The right takes hypocrisy to another level.

One thing pat did say, tho, was that he "wasn't going to either convention this year" - LOL! Gee, thanks pat.

27. sure it's open season on liberals... after Sharpton's address...
... which was awesome, but the threat is there. Sharpton only echoed the civil threat that Jackson spoke of, that Obama spoke of, that Gore spoke of... and yes even Bill Clinton talked on it as well.

But the gauntlet has been cast, and the 700 club will always be there to pick it up and dispense a heaping dose of intolerance and racism.
