This is why another terror attack would give Bush the Win
It's psychology.

Fear of Death Wins Minds and Votes, Study Finds

The volunteers were aged from 18 into their 50s and described themselves as ranging from liberal to deeply conservative. No matter what a person's political conviction, thinking about death made them tend to favor Bush, Solomon said. Otherwise, they preferred Kerry.

"I think this should concern anybody," Solomon said. "If I was speaking lightly, I would say that people in their, quote, right minds, unquote, don't care much for President Bush and his policies in Iraq."

He wants voters to be aware of psychological pressures and how they are used.

14. Well, if I'm going down,
it ain't gonna be cowering.

If death awaits me for speaking out against Bush, then I prefer to go out in a blaze of glory. (Of course, my wife probably would have divorced me by then . . .)

2. I don't know but to me that is a load of crap
Thinking of Bush makes me think of a world going up in flames. Thinking of Kerry makes me think that there might be hope.

5. Media TELLS us what we are thinking
The Media Tells us what to think, how to feel and how to vote or not. The Sheeple have a herd mentality and most do not want to be different. OR they are like me and don't mind being different, know its all Bullshit but are too scared to say anything out loud for fear of condemnation.

I am going to keep the TV off. I am going to get my news from the web and my analysis from DU.

4. I actually think there's a bit of truth there.
Immediately after any tragedy, all people tend to over-react. That's how the Patriot act got passed so quickly and without any scrutiny. That's why everybody was behind shrub when he said "We're gonna hunt 'em down and kille 'em." Everybody has revenge in their mind...until enough time passes and your rational thoughts return.

Now, I'm not positive that the immediate reaction would be for shrub because he's there, or if it would be against him because he failed to protect the people like he promised. I am sure, the result of an election immediately after another attack would be a landslide.

6. I don't think this is true...
When asked to think about an historical trauma, people chose the charismatic leader. They could have just as easily equated charisma with Giuliani.

If there were to be another attack before the election, who's to say that there wouldn't be a surge of "HE LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN!"? Despite their best efforts, it would be nearly impossible to blame a second attack on Clinton, try though they might.

This all supposes, of course, that dems do their job in the face of another attack. If they lie down and die like 3 years ago, we're done.

7. This reminds me off a show on Memory Manipulation that was on PBS
the other night. It showed how someone can feed you false memories through repitition and false information.

I wouldn't take this article too lightly. It's the reason a large number of christians support Bush. They have been drilled with Fear of God all of their lives.

He's been beating his chest about how safe he's made us. If it happens again, the last leg he's got to stand on will fold.

12. Sorry but
people feel Bush is better at handling terrorism tha Kerry 52% to 38%.

If another attack brings terrorism viscerally back to the Amrican conscious Kerry is toast.

16. A disaster happening twice on Bush's watch
Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 10:43 AM by realFedUp
would just have people question his competence
even more squarely.

You have to remember that although all of us shared
heartache and sympathy for those attacked on
9/11....it didn't happen to all of us.
For many of us we saw clearly what New Yorkers et al
could not at the time.
Terrorists attack one thing or another like
criminals do, but it doesn't physically affect all of us
and shouldn't disrupt the nation.

If a leader can't fix what's wrong with systems
to either find criminals or stop activities with
intelligence, then that person should be replaced.
It's too important not to.

19. I fear...
that a terrorist act may happen, but am incident that the Bush Bullies have a hand in just to make sureBush gets elected again. I fear also that people will again react as they did in 9/11, and Bush's rating will go up.

There are a lot of unaware people out there. We can forget this because the people we surround ourself with people like those on DU, well at least I do.

17. Huh?
Your logic is completely reversible. One could just as easily conclude that "If another attack brings terrorism viscerally back to the Amrican conscious BUSH is toast."

Your basis is that people think Bush is better at handling terrorism, and a faith that if another attack occurred, those people wouldn't change their minds. If they think Bush is doing a better job, and we get attacked anyway, nobody would reconsider that opinion????

Sorry, but whether i agree or disagree is not relevant to the fact that your statement is not supportable.
The Professor
