Limbaugh Just Claimed That John Edwards Ran for President...
...because he's so unpopular in his home state (North Carolina) that he would not have won re-election to the Senate.

Anyone have facts to prove my gut feeling that the Nazi gasbag has lied again???

2. You hear all the right-wing talking heads say that same thing. I guess
they were once again all faxed the same talking points.

You would think they would feel embarrassed spouting the same stuff.

5. I Do It As a Public Service
I listen to Limbaugh and Hannity so other DU-ers don't have to. I then report the more outlandish, stupid, and false things they say.

Others list their advertisers on DU so you know who not to patronize.

4. I was watching some program
on PBS, I think, although I can't remember the name of it. The documentarians (?) were asking questions of residents of N Carolina and one of them said that very thing. He said, "We've only had one senator". So, Rushbo is taking the word of one ol' coot in N. Carolina for his outstanding journalism.

10. He Tends To Only Listen To Those Who Agree With Him
And if anyone were to interview ME, thet'd come away with the impression that Colorado has NO Senators - just Wayne Dullard and Ben Nightmare Campbell playing make-believe.

8. Polls indicated that yes Edwards would have lost his re-election bid
Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 11:38 AM by Tweedtheatre
had the election been in January 2004 or July 2003. The other thing is that the seat is somewhat 'cursed'. No one has held that seat for longer then one term since '78 I believe. Just because someone couldn't win an election in NC, doesn't mean that they can't win one nationwide though. Although it was always a concern of mine during the primaries. Now that he is VP, I don't think it really matters.

It is also important to stress when these polls were taken. A year ago six months ago, Kerry was dead in the water. It's a tottally different situation now, but just remember the 'relability' of polls.

9. The NC Repukes are getting their asses handed to them in the Senate race
right now.

Erskine Bowles, the Democrat running for Edwards' old seat is up by 10 points and pulling away from the Repuke running for the seat.

Edwards would've won handily had he run again for his seat.

By the way, they said Edwards would have no chance of the unseating the wealthy Repuke incumbent, Lauch Faircloth, who had the seat before Edwards. They were wrong about that, weren't they?
