Lee Greenwood at the RNC??
I can't wait to see the BIG HAS BEEN Lee Greenwood singing his BORING God Bless The USA song at the RNC. I just get all teary eyed everytime I hear that song, don't you??? LOL! it just makes me feel all gooey inside and lets me know just how special I am and just how all of the TERRORISTS are jealous of me because I am free. ROFL! Just a little tidbit for all the DU'ers here who haven't been to my area...... THE LEE GREENWOOD THEATER in Sevierville, TN near Pigeon Forge closed years ago because No one would go and see his sorry ass perform. One of the last people to visit though, was Poppy Bush after he LOST in 1992. ROFL!!!

1. Lee Greenwood makes Toby Keith look good.
Toby's got a bit of talent, even if his political ideas are unsophisticated. (Needs to spend more time with Willie.)

Lee Greenwood is a hack.

2. And maybe while they're at it they'll invite Dale Earnhardt, Jr.
to inspire the NASCAR Dads, and Dale can talk about how he took his whole crew to see Fahrenheit 9/11.

9. The fact he's doing commercials for local furniture stores
Speaks volumes when it comes to the state of his "career". I really hate that guy.

. . . to reveal his penis disguised as a miniature flag pole sporting a tiny flag . . . .

The GOP family values coalition...Ahhnold (Group sex gropinator) Schwarzenegger, Rudy (adulterer) Guliani, Dick (go f*ck yourself) Cheney. God bless us, everyone.

BTW, that song may be the most terrible, crappy, cheesy song ever recorded by humans.

14. He is

The guy that drives the ice cream truck in my neighborhood. He also spends some time shilling and singing for Right Wing causes under the guise of pseudo-patriotism.

13. I thought he might have quit singing...
for medical reasons. He has to strain so hard to belt that voice out, I figured he's had to have multiple herniorrhaphies and finally just gave it up.

16. Are they bringing back that Watts guy?
what was his name, black guy. You know, his dad said something about blacks voting for republicans is like chickens voting for Col Sanders....After a failied republican lonely political career, I guess the republicans have not yet paid up. Watts is on local TV doing cheeze commercials peddling...I think bibles...diet drinks...quick get rich schemes....one of them.

19. J.C. Watts
He's still around. Among other things, he's a board member of Clear Channel, and a regular commentator on the Tavis Smiley Show. I would be surprised if he's not featured at the Pubican party convention. They love pretending that they have more than .0001% of African-Americans on their side.

20. More possibilities

  • Tony Orlando singing "Tie A Yellow Ribbon"

  • Donny Osmond singing "Go Away Little Girl" while images of Teresa Heinz Kerry are shown on the big screen

  • Merv Griffin singing "Hit the Road, Jacks" dedicated to John Kerry and John Edwards

  • Wynonna Judd doing a cover of the Bloodhound Gang's "The Roof Is On Fire" (song heard in Fahrenheit 9/11)

  • Off-camera: Republican dance lessons in a heavily padded area of the convention hall

22. David Cross on Lee Greenwodd
Then he goes after country singer Lee Greenwood. Cross sings a line from "God Bless the U.S.A." — "And I'd gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today" and notes, "Really? Well, here's your second chance ... pick up a gun and hop to it! Plane leaves from over there. ... What? Sorry, I couldn't hear you with all the flags flapping in my ears. What? What's that? Oh, you've got another gig in Branson?"

26. Lee Greenwood played here right after 9/11
He gave a free concert, which of course was packed--we have lotsa freepers here, country is popular here, free is especially popular here--and which of course I did not attend.

I have been told that he did his 45-Minute Special Disco Remix of God Bless the USA, because that's the only song of his anyone knows.

27. There are a lot of Confederate Flags flying in Country Music.
What amazes me is that these folks have a vicious grip on the definition of Patriotism. The "tradition and heritage" implied by the old time confederates has translated into the Fascist Imperialism philosophy of the Neocons. What is so patriotic about that point of view?

Anyone who disagrees with the "correct brand" of entertainers seems to be headed toward career suicide.

The same was true at the end of WWII in Germany. A person had to be a member of the correct political party, espouse the correct viewpoint, and belong to the correct social groups to have a chance at holding meaningful employment.

The STASI kept this tradition alive after the war. I cannot grasp the correlation between that type of a political-economic system and American Patriotism.

Of course, I am only a bed-wetting liberal and likely incapable of understanding such deep and lofty ideals.
