Media angry over lack of controversy at convention
Just my take on comments I've noticed from pundits/journalists lately, that the convention is too scripted, etc... that have an almost nasty tone. They wanted some controversy to bring up the ratings and they haven't gotten it. Dems too unified.

What to do? Well, let's see, I've got these RNC talking points here I guess I could use...

I'm very curious to see how the Repub convention will be covered....

1. They bashed Sharpton for being UNscripted!
These assholes will bash the convention no matter what happens.

2. too much Bush-bashing
not enough Bush-bashing.

They did the same in the primaries. Tsk tsk, too negative, too nasty. Then, "why is Edwards being so nice to Kerry?"

4. That's OK
Betcha there'll be LOTS of controversy in New York. Is it just me or does anyone else think the Rethugs are kicking themselves for putting the convention in NYC? That's going to bite them in the ass so hard, they'll be pining for somewhere safe-like Crawford-before it's all over.

6. I absolutely agree
It may have seen like a good idea 2 years ago when they were setting it up... I think even they must by now know that they fucked up.

7. Protestors in New York...
...should make sure to have a few placards saying, "How's the Air, George?" Don't let the bastards forget about telling New Yorkers that the air was fine after the Twin Towers collapsed.

5. You're absolutely right
They've been trying desperately to paint us as divided, asking every delegate if they're upset the tone isn't more anti-war, if they're upset we're not bashing Bush enough, if they're upset we're bashing too much...

8. I agree
the media is working hard to create stories that place the Democrats in a bad light and they are frustated at the unity shown by the conventioneers. They do not understand that Democrats are so serious about this election that they are pulling out all stops to provide an effective organization that will defeat an administration that in no shape, form, or way represents the majority of Americans. The majority of Americans do not hold to the * administration's value system.

9. But DK got over 40 delegate votes!!! Talk about a split party!
If that isn't controversy then I don't know what it is. There certainly were a great deal of DUers who got all ruffled up about it.

14. TV Media
It'a about ratings and feeding off of controversy, violence and sexual voyerism. I feel that most of the TV Media is Right Wing because the Right Wing is for deregulation which Media Moguls are pushing for, plus some of the Media owners are also part of the War Machine and are profiting from Bush's wars. That is one of the reasons that they trashed H. Dean. He called for breaking up Media consolidation.

Better yet, let's wrap some cats in straw and American flags, set them on fire and hurl them at members of the Kentucky delegation!

A poor African-American woman can have a government-funded abortion live on national television while a troupe of gay dancers hand out free needles and signed Robert Mapplethorpe prints!!

No, no, wait - I've got it. Al Sharpton & Wolf Blitzer can strip down to their loincloths and go at it in a big sumo ring erected on the main stage!!

12. The pundits can just... SHOVE IT!
In the words of Obama:

"Now even as we speak, there are those who are preparing to divide us, the spin masters, the negative ad peddlers who embrace the politics of anything goes. Well, I say to them tonight, there is not a liberal America and a conservative America — there is the United States of America. There is not a Black America and a White America and Latino America and Asian America — there’s the United States of America.

The pundits, the pundits like to slice-and-dice our country into Red States and Blue States; Red States for Republicans, Blue States for Democrats. But I’ve got news for them, too. We worship an awesome God in the Blue States, and we don’t like federal agents poking around in our libraries in the Red States. We coach Little League in the Blue States and yes, we’ve got some gay friends in the Red States. There are patriots who opposed the war in Iraq and there are patriots who supported the war in Iraq.

We are one people, all of us pledging allegiance to the stars and stripes, all of us defending the United States of America. In the end, that’s what this election is about. Do we participate in a politics of cynicism or do we participate in a politics of hope?

John Kerry calls on us to hope. John Edwards calls on us to hope."
